Well I am an American and I would have to disagree somewhat. Now, I have no doubt that there are some Americans out there that are this way. But I am not one of them. I was raised that everyone was created equal and I still believe that to this day. I am also raising my children to be this way. I fully believe it doesn't matter what color skin we have or what nationality we are. We are all the same on the inside and that is all that matters. And, if you think about it all Americans are decendants of other countries. All our ancestors came to American from foreign countries. I think those Americans that think they are better than everyone else have forgotten this. I have not and never will. By the way, I think you have started are really great discussion.

thank you speedy1279.. i know you're not one of the people im referring to.. and forgive me if i sounded like i'm generalizing this matter... it's just that lately, i've been hearing some news that SOME americans are making fun of the other race.. Just because of our skin color,, just because we can't be able to speak english well,, just because were not that capable of having such luxurious lifestyle...You know things like that... It just that i'm being affected by those things.

On behalf of many Americans that I know aren't this way, I apologize for you being affected by the ignorance of some Americans. It it not right to have to be treated this way. You are just as equal to us Americans as anyone else. You also have every right to feel hurt and upset.

it is good to know that there are plenty Americans like you who were raised properly by your parents. But it is a SAD fact that those few Americans(the other ones) stole the great impression i/we used to have on your people & your country. No need to aplogize though. :) Anyways you still have my respect.

I think it all depends on the American. There are some Americans who think we are the superior race, and we are the best. I personally, am not one of those Americans. It really all depends on the person. Good discussion!

I hear ya liyyoungfella and I can relate to your pain. I am Canadian and with all countries and races, I know that there are those that that 'think' that they are superior to everyone else and some certainly let you know it. It is unfortunate, but know that these few give any group a bad name and no NOT all are like that. I am sure you can come across some of those on mylot or any internet group you join as well. And you should never judge an entire country, race or religeon opon the rudesess of these few. I have done extensive travelling through the Unites States and other countries and met all kinds of people and yes there will always be those that think they are superior and know everything, but also alot of very down to earth welcoming and wonderful individuals out there. These are the people I try to associate myself with on and offline. I hope that helps somewhat...

you wouldn't be racist if you'd hate americans. whoever would call you racist is stupid. americans are like a caged animal. that animal gets his share of food, drink, is "protected" by that cage, so everything around him is dangerous (see the american paranoia - terrorism) and more low. this is my opinion.

As an American I feel that your feeling about Americans is generally factual. Unfortunately. Americans in general tend to have the notion that our country is the richest and most powerful and therefore tend to carry the corresponding air. Thankfully not ALL Americans are this way. But regretfully the majority are. And it is ridiculous for any American to put down any other country or race since America was built on the very backs of people from those countries in the first place! This historical fact seems to be completely forgotten by modern day Americans who are actually making fun of some other American citizen's ancestor. Tink

There are quite a few Americans(Jewish,Italian,African-American,German,Dutch,Samoan,Peurto Rican,etc....)that do not function well in the "grey areas", like myself. Individuals like me tend to see things and stuff in terms of black and white. Alot of this can be attributable to the news we watch in America and how much importance we put on the news. I can remember hiding under the desk at school, all curled up, practicing for the "attack" from those "bad and evil Russians" I was an American in combat in Vietnam and with our superior firepower, it does something to a person. You ask a very good question. I know that in my heart and the way I believe in my Creator....I love and I care about everyone. Like all those Chinese caught in the snowstorms recently. I feel very badly for all those people. All the starving in Sudan, I ask, why are'nt we feeding those poor people.?? We have in alot of ways been taught that we are the caretakers in the world instead of realizing we share what the Creator has blessed us with. As individuals, I believe, that most of us believe in the latter. Our government responds to catastrophies, and critical needs around the world, but the nightly news presents it in an entirely different light. I have been around the world and I have met alot of different people and found that they are no different than I am. I have functioned in the extremes and I have truly hurt some people and I am very sorry for that. I have spent many nights crying over that. I strive to be well balanced so that I can experience each individual as they are and for me that takes discipline.....alot of discipline. I do not want to judge an entire race or ethnic group based on my experience with one or two individuals and it took me some years to get here. I wish you all, PEACE and LOVE.

Like said before, not all americans think this way. The ones you probably hear in the news are the rich ones with money or who are just trying to get publicity. Most americans here are immigrants like my parents. In my opinion every since Bush got elected president, everything has gone down hill in this counrty. And it really has effected me and my family personally.
