last night i only ate 2 pieces of bread for dinner. i thought i was going to sleep early so i didn't think i would need much energy. but i got engrossed playing games in the computer and i got hungry. i was being lazy and i didn't want to get some food so i thought i would just go right to sleep and forget my hunger. but after half an hour, i couldn't sleep because i could feel my stomach rumbling. and my head was throbbing and aching. i had no choice but to get some food and eat. ^__^;;
how about you? can you sleep when you're hungry??

No, not well. I mean, if I lay in bed long enough eventually I will fall asleep. But if I am really hungry, it'll be a long time before I'll be able to sleep. So usually if I am still awake when I'm hungry I'll go eat an orange or something. It usually helps.

me too. if i'm not that hungry, i can sleep it off. but at that time, i was really hungry. i guess i used all the energy from the bed in thinking about my moves in the game. LOL

Yeah, if I'm not painfully hungry, I'll be fine lol. But if it is actually bothersome then I have to do something about it before I can sleep!

honestly, i cant sleep...
i make sure to eat something, its really my nature..
i cant stand the aching and emptiness of my stomach..
not unless i'll be an orphan with no food at all.. no choice but accept that i have to sleep without eating..
but for several years, im used to put something here inside my tummy.. with that i can assure myself to sleep^_^
well.. have a good day^_^

Well it really depends, I would drink water first and maybe try not to think much of the cooking shows I watch on tv. Then if it still won't work, I'd run into the kitchen, check some left-overs and if there's not, I'll have to do some quick cooking.
We're not much into instant noodles, so mostly it's fried egg/hotdog and rice for me..

No, I used to complain about being too hungry to go to sleep a lot when I was a kid. I never ate vegetables at dinner, so I often had to go to bed with out dessert or a snack. x3

really? then i guess they have very thin bodies?? 1 bowl of noodles is not even enough for me if i'm really hungry. and even if it can satisfy my hunger, i would easily get hungry after only a few hours.

I dont find it particularly hard to fall asleep when im hungry given that im tired. If i wasnt tired then i think it would be hard to sleep none the less. I cant really explain it but every now and again i just cant go to sleep. It just takes place on random days, no explintion, no reason.

I can't sleep when I'm hungry. I always eat something before going to bed (well, 1h-30min before lol). Right now, because I'M pregnant and suffer from pregnancy diabetes and always will eat some small fruits and nuts before going to bed. Normaly I will have 1 cookies and a glass of milk or some toasts before going to bed

yeah, pregnant women should really eat when hungry since they are also feeding a baby inside. ^__^
the problem with me is i don't anything anymore after i have eaten dinner and brushed my teeth. so unless i got painfully hungry like what happened the other night, i won't be eating any snacks. ^__^

If i try to go to sleep hungry, which i almost always am hungry being preggo, I can't sleep either, i mean eventually i'll get tired enough and pass out, but its a lot easier and less stressful to just get up grab something small like toast or something light, scarff it down, and go back to bed. Or a little trick i use sometimes, is to chug a bunch of milk, i drink whole milk, so it fills your belly for a short time, long enough to fall asleep soemtiems *wink wink*

we don't have a stock of any milk so even if i want to drink milk, i can't. i wish we did but we weren't brought up drinking milk always. it would have been better i guess if we were. ^__^

No I can't sleep if I am hungry.I am a night owl so I don't go to sleep until real late but if I am hungry, I eat. I don't eat anything too heavy and I wait at least 30 minutes before I go to bed. That way I don't have heartburn or bad dreams.

I thought it was the type of food that would give you heartburn , not the amount. I chew bubble gum after each meal so I don't get heartburn.

I can sleep when hungry but not as well. I also wake up very hungry and that I don't like because it seems like I eat and eat and really can't find what it is that I am wanting. Usually if I get hungry at night I will get a small light snack or a drink of milk.

If I am super hungry, then I have to eat. I am currently using as much energy when asleep as when I am awake. That's what being pregnant does to you.

The scenario you described in your discussion is so much like my typical evening! That's hilarious you would mention that because I'm one to have good intentions of going to bed early (for once - lol!) and don't end up getting to sleep until hours upon hours later. I've gone to bed hungry so many times. I'm just too lazy to go downstairs and get something to eat. The weirdest thing is that when I eat really late at night, I'm starving first thing in the morning. So...my answer is yes. Yes, I can go to bed and fall asleep if I'm hungry. I'm just like you. If I get starved, my stomach aches and growls, and my head starts to throb. I get pretty cranky when I need to eat! (LOL) However, if I'm sleeping, I couldn't care less. Most of the evenings, I'd rather sleep than eat anyway since I eat more than I sleep. Great discussion!

hi jj! that's a really abusive lifestyle you live there. good thing you don't have ulcer. i never let that night to happen again because it was really a worse night for me. i don't eat more than i sleep, they are equal so i can't take either of them for granted. most of the times anyway. sometimes i just get so lazy and even forgetful to eat. ^__^;;

I would eat all the time if I could! (LOL) Yes, thankfully I don't have an ulcer and never have...yet. Hopefully never, though! I don't prefer to go to sleep hungry, but I can definitely sleep through. I love what you said in your comment, though, that you get a balanced and equal amount of sleep and food. I believe there truly is a delicate balance to life because that's how we stay healthy and happy. Thanks for sharing!

I really cannot sleep when I'm hungry. As much as I tried to, My stomach would not let me. I will feel pain and would be very restless. So what I do is always make sure that I eat dinner to insure that it can last me through the morning. Cause I don't also want to have midnight snacks since I take midnight snack, I would also feel uncomfortable when I go back to sleep. There is also the possibility that once you eat at midnight and sleep outright, the food may not be properly digested.

you're right. that is the reason why i don't like eating midnight snacks too. its not only that it may not be properly digested, but it could also be not digested.

no i don't think that can sleep well without having anything much. and i also think that you must not go to sleep with an empty stomach as its not good for health(that does not mean that you must sleep with a full stomach its not good either). but after playing so much you must eat something please take care of your health.

When i'm hungty it's impossible to sleep because you feel your stomache so bad that you know the only way to get rid of that nasty feeling is to eat something.Than i have to sit first for 15 minutes before i try to sleep again.
After that i will sleep much better.

If I keep thinking that I didnt eat and I am hungry..MAy be I cannot sleep.
If I just try to relax my mind and close my eyes..May be I will sleep like a log...without even knowing that I am hungry.
Its just about the mind.thats as simple as that.

but our mind also needs energy. if we are hungry, we can't send energy to our brain. will your mind still work properly if you don't have much energy?

so you are afraid to gain weight? but if you are hungry and you eat something little just to fend off the hunger, then i think you won't gain much weight just because of that.
