I had a couple of stuffed animals that my ex gave me on previous Valentines Days that I could never get rid of for some reason. When we were cleaning out my Mothers apartment nobody wanted hers so I took them all. I keep them all on a chair in my living room. I also gave my Mother an awesom American Indian porcelain doll that's on the large side which I also have and I have her sitting on the back of the chair with all of the animals. I think my favorite is a big white polar bear with a scarf on that my Mom used to put out at Christmastime.
Are you a collector of stuffed animals? Where do you keep them if you do? Do people give you stuffed animals as gifts? Do you know anyone who has a lot of them?

I personally have only two stuffed animals. Both from Build a Bear. One is Rudolph because Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is one of my favorite Christmas shows. The other is a teddy bear my brother-in-law and nephew made for my mom when she was sick. Her name is Hope. Once mom passed on, Hope came home with me. They dressed her in an angel outfit.
Now my girls have tons of stuffed animals. You know you try to tell people they have enough, but on one listens. LOL. The only ones they have now are their Build a Bears, ones from special places we have been, and now Webkinz.
Oh we do have one beanie buddy. I am the guilty one and bought it when my youngest was in the hospital getting dental work done. There was the cutest puppy dog at the gift shop. So when she woke up there was her new friend. She name her "puppybear" and she sleeps with her every night.
I remember when the beanie babies were such a hit. I had two different SIL, one on my side and one on Bob's side who were going nuts over them. They both tried to get my oldest hooked on them but thankfully it didn't work.

I used to have a ton of them. Like i saved them all from when i was a child on. But when i moved i donated them all to some second hand store cause i wasn't able to take 5 garbage bags of stuffed animals on the plane. Lol. I came here with two duffle bags. and gave away the rest of my stuff, my mom keeps a few things for me at her house. but other then the few things, Poof.
My daughter and my stepson had quiet a few stuffed animals. i donated a lot of them to some people who lost everything in a fire just before xmas. I donated a LOT of stuff!! clothes, toys, stuffed animals! All junk to me, but i hope it helped someone else!

Eventually I will donate my stuffed animals too...except for my Mothers that I'll keep forever. I think it's great that you donated all that stuff around Christmas since there are so many kids who don't get anything.

I have a few stuffed animals saved from my childhood and also a few from friends over the years. But as time has gone by I have gotten rid of allot of the stuffed animals I had when I was a kid. When I was a kid I was a collector of them, I had like over 100 of them ,lol

These days I only have three stuffed animals where I live, all of which have a special emotional significance to me, eg the bear I got when I was born. However I used to collect them like crazy. Back when I lived with my parents I had a room full of stuffed animals! I loved them for some reason, heh. When I moved out and my parents' changed my room into a guest room the stuffed animals ended up filling two (!) bin bags. These have slowly been diminished over the years as they've been thrown/given away (to charity shops and the like) but there's still quite a number tucked away in their attic. I've also come to a point now that I really couldn't want to buy new teddies were once I'd have bought many - but the ones I do have with me I couldn't give up for the world. My housemate, on the other hand, still has a room full of them!

Most of what I have does have an emotional significance and I wouldn't part with them for the world. The ones that don't will probably end up at the Goodwill store down the street from me.

I used to collect stuffed animals for story telling in the preschool where I worked. We loved to have whatever animals were in whatever story. I still have a lot of them. My mother liked stuffed animals and people gave her unique ones. I got a lot of them when she passed on, but I do not display them, they are in boxes and drawers. I have a crib I would like to set up, where I would like to put them. My favorite, however, was a possum I designed and hand made for a story. It was really small and I just stitched him up from white fleece and brushed the hair with gray streaks and blanket stitched the tail and ears with pink thread. I looked a long time for a peacock to go with a story, and I found a chenille one in a bin of dog toys. I like it a lot as well, it is really soft.

My mother has a powder room on the main floor of her house. It happens to have a very old footed bathtub in it. It hasn't been used for years. My mother keeps dolls in it, especially over-sized raggedy ann type dolls. I think she probably has a teddy bear or two in there as well.

I love stiffed animals. I started a post on how I hate receiving flowers and I added that I would rather get stuffed animals. All my babies have names. I have so many that the list of names is about 5 pages long. I still have a little stuffed dog I got when I was one and a half.My mom sent to Monterey to get me a stuffed Otter. He is about life sized and he is great.I even have a purple octopus, the funny part about this is I hate purple. But one of my favorites is my Corduroy bear. He looks just like the bear in the Freedman story. He is even missing a button.

You are not alone. I don;t know about you but I see flowers as a lame attempt to apologize for something you will do again if you were given a chance.I prefer stuff animals. They are more original and they don't die in a few days.

Everyone who knows me thinks I'm the only woman in the world who doesn't like getting flowers! Now I can tell them I know for sure that I'm not!!

My son has lots of stuffed animals and likes to collect lots of different animals too. I think he has around 30 stuffed toys give or take a few. He often gets stuffed animals for presents or else we pick up a souvenir wherever we visit different places and or museums. They are all in one corner of his room and sometimes i have sat myself down on them all like having one big bean chair hahaha

Hi ctry, do you know where I can get a net like that to hold up my sons cuddly toys? he has a ton of small ones and a few big ones which wont fit but it would be nice to put the small ones away nicely instead of in a corner on the floor, thanks.

My daughter used to keep the kids stuffed animals in one of those nets on the wall. Finally it got so full that it fell down. Now that the kids are older she just put them in boxes.

I'm not really a collector but I have some stuffed animals.Since I'm a grown up now, they're just displayed in my room.Well some people give me stuffed animals as gifts but I don't appreciate them that much because I prefer practical stuff like clothes, shoes, etc to be given to me.

Goodness your mother and mine must have been sisters. Like you my mom's gone too, but she must have been going through her second or third childhood as she was absolutely bonkers about stuffed animal toys...unfortunately I had to get rid of almost all of them years ago, when my mother and I were going through our eviction issue first time round due to the cat population problem she had created...lets put it this way, those stuffed toys didn't exactly smell great from the cats..LOL. I've managed to collect a few to kind of replace some..though I still managed to keep my very first stuffed toy I had as a kid...which was a female kangeroo with a baby in her pouch. Most other stuffed toys I have now are kitty type ones especially black cats ...LOL..I guess to match my real cat Pyewacket. I have some stuffed toys on my bed, especially the teddy bear I made for myself as a present to myself for a birthday gift...I had a teddy bear kit for I don't know how long, and last year decided to finally make it..Here's a picture of "Bragi" Bear..I even made the red velvet vest.

My Mother was given every stuffed animal she had and didn't buy even one for herself. She had so much of everything that nobody ever knew what to give her for special occasions. She even has a couple from the gambling casino she went to so often. I've seen the teddy bear kids but never thought I could make one that would come out looking half decent...lol. Your Bragi Bear looks awesome.

In my closet I have about 4 trashbags filled with stuffed animals. Not to mention the stuffed animals I have around my house. I've always loved stuffed animals. I have some things from Great Grandmother that she used to always use, so I understand that. Some things I had given her too.

I am not a collector of stuff animals because I really find them pointless(I don't know I guess because I am a guy or something)I don't really have someone that gives me stuffed animals because most people know me by now and know that I am not the type to have alot of stuffed animals cluttering up my room and stuff! I actually did know someone that had alot of stuffed animals the way that she talked she had like two or three rooms full of stuffed animals and she would sleep with like five stuffed animals everynight!

Most guys aren't into stuffed animals although one year when my son was about 16 I bought him a huge stuffed dog because he wanted a dog so bad and we couldn't have one. I don't know what he ended up doing with it!

i wouldn't say i have tons but i do have a number, some of which are on my bed. my hubby gets pissed off if they get in his way while sleeping. grins so i ensure that they're on my side of the bed. i like to hold one. it's quite big though not that too. hehe it's a bulldog and you could say it was one of my firsts and i really liked it as i love dogs. it looked so cute.
it's been more than 6 years already now and it's nose has already dropped off courtesy of my 5 yr old son. grins. but i still hold it to sleep and it also keeps me really warm. i can't really handle too much cold though it's a tropical climate over here. a little bit of wind, and i feel chilly. grins.

When I first met my husband, he was sleeping with a large Sylvester the Cat. He needed something to hold on to while he slept. I have no idea where that thing went but he still hugs a pillow while he sleeps. I bought him a body pillow once but my kids took hold of that, so he continues to hug his pillow.

I kept every stuffed animal from childhood. A couple years ago, I weeded through them and kept only the important ones and gave the others to the thrift store. I think i only got rid of 1/8 of what i had, because you could barely tell i did anything. LOL. then my husband and i got this tradition that every Christmas we were together, we would get a Christmas Bear w/ the year on it from Walmart. I had to start off w/ the biggest bears. when we got to year 5, we decided to with the smaller ones.
We just got a dog, and she has helped me w/ my stuffed animal problem. she had taken the liberty of defluffing most of them. i have put the important ones up high, of course. For awhile, it always looked like it snowed in my house. I'm down to possibly 3 bags worth of animals, 2 of which are the big christmas bears. lol.

Stuffed animals can be cute but I don't people should give them as gifts or give them away exspecially with small kids or someone who has allergies. I use to have some and there is one that I had given to my kids. Hes a big ty monkey and so cute. I could never get rid of him. I throw out alot of stuffed animals that my kids get as gifts and here if someone that I know is riding in a parade I give them the stuffed animals. You could always give it to good will.

I used to have quite a few. I gave all the ones from my ex-husband to my 3 older children (he is their father).
My youngest daughter is almost two and she has staked claim on most of the stuffed animals that we have given one another through the years. She loves to play with the smaller ones. There are only a few though.
I have two stuffed animals from when I was a little girl. A raggedy old teddy bear that I have had since I was a newborn and a stuffed Snoopy that I got for my 2nd birthday.
I am sure I had more but as with everything else, they were all in the hurricane.

I have a tone of them, they are in my bedroom, and in the dinning room and in the garage, just to name a few places. My children gave them to me, my husband and others, I like them I guess thats one of the reasons I have so many, that and the fact I cant have cats or dogs because of the other pets we have. They are cute.

My stepmom has their extra bedroom full of beanie babies. I counted over 300 and that's not even all she's had! She's been giving away her collection for a couple of years now to the fire department to hand out to children and to auctions for the local school, toy programs at Christmas, etc. She estimates she had about 800 of them at one time!
