Bad news today

My son is a special ed. class. We fought all last year to get him in this class. Tonight, I get a phone call from my parents neighbor that works at the school. Yesterday, right after school, about 4 miles from the school, his teacher was in a car accident. Some guy pulled out right in front of her and they both had to be lifeflighted. I am so upset. She is a wonderful teacher and she is so good with these kids. I hope that she will be ok!! I will have to wait until Monday, and see if we get a little report as to how she is. Please everyone pray that she will recover and for her family.

She had surgery on her leg today. She has broke some ribs and clavicle. It could have been alot worse. She even called the Principal over the weekend worried about her kids. Hopefully she will be home soon.

I will definitely be praying that she is okay. Having a daughter in special ed. myself I know what it's like when you finally find a teacher who is good with your kids. When my daughter was in elementary school I didn't really care for that teacher much, but when she started middle school the teacher she started out with was great with all those kids. Unfortunately that teacher had a sister that passed away due to cancer and had a hard time dealing with it and had a lot of trouble with depression and didn't even finish out that first year. My daughter has since gotten to where they just said she was too aggressive and they couldn't do anything with her at school. They recommended placement in a residential setting at Southwestern Virginia Training Center(I think they have a website if you want to do a search) we applied and she got approved about two years ago and we'd been waiting for a bed to become available all that time. Finally a few weeks ago they called me and one is available and she goes this coming Tuesday Feb. 5th. The good thing about this place is that it is only 45 minutes away from where we live and we can go anytime we want.

Thank you for your prayers. It is hard to find teachers that really care and go out of their way for them. This teacher is so upbeat and finds ways for them to learn. I did hear from the school today. She had to have surgery today to her leg right above the ankle. She broke her Clavicle, and a couple of ribs. They also think she may have a ruptured artery in her chest. I don't know why they are not in any hurry to find out if she does. She called the principal over the weekend, and was worried about her kids, and so upset because she had all kinds of things going on with each of them. It takes someone special to be in all the pain and worry about others instead. I hope things really work out for her.

Yes, it certainly does. If she's as upbeat as you say I'd say everything will eventually work out for her it just will take time. Be praying for me as tomorrow we take my daughter to Southwestern Virginia Training Center(they have a website if you want to see what the place is about) and it will be a residential type setting. I know that really it is for the best as they will be able to work with her on things that I can't here at home. But still that doesn't make it hurt any less. Of course since it is only 45 minutes from where we live I will be there as much as I can.

She was really doing great with him and willing to try anything. Last night, the only thing I did find out is that her legs are really busted up bad, otherwise no one could tell me anything.

I'll bet she has many children and families praying for her and hoping that she makes a speedy and full recovery! Think of all the lives she has touched and the difference she has made to so many special children. I will add her to my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the substitute teacher will be just a wonderful and can help the children in the same way as the previous teacher.

Wow I am really sorry to hear that because it sounds like by the way you are describing her that she really was a wonderful woman and really good with the special education children....that is really hard to find someone that is really good with special ed children and are really sweet and nice to them and that is really sweet and nice to everyone..I really hope that she is alright...I'm sure that she will be just fine as long as everyone says a prayer because prayers are sometimes answered!!!

She is having surgery today on her leg. I guess she has some broken ribs and a broken clavicle. She still was worried about her kids and how much she had going on with each of them. She called the principal at home, all upset over her kids. I wish her the best. Thank you, and keep the prayers coming.

How sad. It is hard for her family and the other guy as well. I hope for her own sake she recovers, and for the kiddos too. It is hard to replace a really good teacher.

It must be terrible when there is an accident especially when a teacher is concerned. I pray that she will get better and will be still back in the classroom teaching the students. I wish her a speedy recovery and that there is not much damage to her car, that the insurance comes through, and that she is not blamed for the accident.

This is very sad. I will pray. I know it was a relief to find someone to work well with your child. I hope that she will be able to continue. Let's pray for a miracle.

I hope that both of them will be ok. It is always really sad when you hear about somone in a car accident that has been hurt really badly and when it is someone you know it effects you even more. I hope she will be ok and has a quick recovery and I hope the sub they get while she is gone does as good with the kids as she does.

I am so sorry to hear about this and I am praying that she will be ok. I know how hard it can be with some children. Some teachers or aides or whoever in the education field just seem to get a better response out of children than others. My sister has Down Syndrome, and she isn't in special ed classes, she has an aid with her throughout the school day to help her keep up. She does well with it, but last year her aid had a much better job offer and it was in her best interest to take it. My sister had such a hard time with it, she acted out, went down hill.... it was bad... until finally we have found someone else that truly knows how to work with her like the last one did. I really hope this teacher is ok and can return to her students quickly!
