it`s not about you.. the purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.. if you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with GOD.. you were born BY His purpose and FOR His purpose.. The search for the purpose of life has puzzled people for thousands of years. that`s because we typically begin at the wrong starting point---------- OURSELVES.. We ask self-centered questions like What do i want to be! what should i do with my life? What are my goals, ambitions, dreams for my future? But focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life`s purpose.. How, then, do you discover the purpose of your existence??????? try to ask HIm;-)))))))

Absolutely 100% agree with you. It is when I do not follow my intuition (the spirit within guiding me) that things go wrong. I was reading the Word for Today earlier and in today's section it says "When you disobey God's law you suffer; when you honour them you succeed. Furthermore his laws are not like an a la carte menu; you can't pick what you like and leave the rest." Oh so true. When I pray I always ask to be shown what it is I am sipposed to be doing and for the spirit within to guide me on my life purpose

I don't believe in god so, no, I don't believe he put me here for some greater purpose. I have no other greater purpose then the purpose I make for myself. If I want to become a world famous author then that will be my purpose in life--to create something to entertain other people. Most likely my greater purpose is to just raise my children to be the best people they can be and carry on my "spirit". That is my purpose in life because it is what I chose for myself.

I think this best describes how I feel about this, too. ... we are the ones who are responsible in directing our life paths.

Nicely said my friend. I don't think everyone will understand this but that doesn't change the fact that it is indeed the truth. If we search for belonging, happiness, love and purpose we definitely should start with Him.

That is correct, it will be easy to accept this if we have the knowledge of the word of God, from the begining of all things, God was the first because he pre-existed all thing, the bible says in the begining God......, so I believe God is before all things.

If there is a god, I would have to say the purpose of our existence is to be pieces in his board game ...

You have to look at the whole picture, though ... there are many examples of god's jealousy, destruction, and unfairness ... but christians overlook those scriptures. Personally, I have very little respect for a god who's attitude is basically "serve me, or go to hell" ...... so to say that we have been given a choice, is nonsense, when you look at it that way. For many its a forced choice, driven by fear.

well said... i can't agree more with you... yes, we have become so self-centered and so engrossed in ourselves that we put God so far far behind... while we actually have to put God above everything else in our lives because He is our Creator and we are created by Him... our purpose in this life is to enjoy and glorify Him forever... our soul will never find peace until we find rest in Him... that is our nature and we can't deny it...

I agree. Without God we wouldn't be here. Have you read "The Purpose Driven Life"? Its a very good book. Although I need to reread it. I still am not sure what God has in mind for me but I feel like He knows and I don't want to miss His calling for me.

" How, then, do you discover the purpose of your existence??????? try to ask HIm;-)))))))" So did you ask "Him" Do you know what the purpose of your life or everyone else's life is? Because if "He" told you I'd really like to know what "His" answer was.

I don't believe I was just placed on this planet. I was born, like all people and animals are. The purpose of my existence got nothing to do with god, at least not for me....it got to do with pulling my weight and doing what I can to protect this planet and respecting others and just being a good person. I don't need god to tell me that and I certainly am not going to waste my time asking him because not only am I not sure that he is there, even if he was, it's my responsibility to figure out my purpose in life, not his.....

I agree with you. God has a plan for each and every one of us. Sometimes we need to be still and listen.
