Yep, still have a low star rating. Still have a 60 something out of 70. Don't get me wrong, its better than previous star ratings I've had, but grief me... no changes have occured in quite a while. The most recent thing to happen was a VERY slow increase in rating, I mean every couple of days or so. Now its just sits at 64, as if to mock me that I could never get a 7. The only time I had a star rating beyond 6 was when I started (at 100 posts) and sometime near the 1000 mark (but that was taken away the VERY INSTANT I logged on the next day, replaced by ANOTHER 4) So, fellow low star knights. What say you? Any other trouble with the broken and worthless star rating you want to share? Those with high stars, you are welcome here too. And if people still don't think the star rating is broken, my Best Response list is just a profile gaze away. You may like me, you may hate me, but NO ONE can say I'm not worth it on mylot.

Could be worse you could be 50 something? LOL I don't even care about it- people mostly use when they don't agree with you anyway. It's not like it effects your discussions, you have great ones!

Well thanks Skinnychick. The thing that gets me even more is seeing some unlikely people getting slammed via star rating. I had no clue someone(some people) did it to you. Knowing you, I realize its a troll or someone who just can't argue. I like your positive attitude towards it too Skinny.

I don't know what to say Pro other than try not to let the star rating thing get to you. I've enjoyed your discussions that I've replied to and you have never given me a reason to give you a negative. Hopefully it will go up soon. I've noticed it does seem to take a while to go up. I know as it took me some time to reach my 10 star and I had started out with a 6. But it seems to be holding...for now. As you know all that can change in a blink of an eye, at least when it goes down, that is. Good luck in getting that higher star!

Aw, thanks Pro. You know how to make a girl blush. :) I think sometimes people on here can misunderstand what someone is saying (remember our own misunderstanding? :P LOL) and take what was said the wrong way, thus getting a negative rating (at least from those that like to hit the negative button). It's not fair, but it happens anyway. I had someone misunderstand one of my responses the other day, but to my surprise my star didn't drop (yet). Maybe this person knows how to play fair on mylot, who knows? LOL And of course then we have the people that hit the negative button because they disagreed with what was said. But I won't even go there.. I do tend to avoid heated topics, so I have no doubt this is why my star is as high as it is, though some days I just have to get in on the action! It really just depends on my mood. :P

I don't have to go through your Best Response list. I've been watching your discussions and I can see that you are smart and give good responses too....it's another fact that some of your discussions fly above my head or I find them interesting...but can't really respond...because I'm not smart enough. But I like to go through the responses you get for those. Don't bother too much about the star. I have a feeling that it's someone who doesn't really like you giving all those negative ratings which lower the star rating.

Hey, you are who you are and you can't be anyone else. And be happy about the people who don't agree with you...atleast they have some kind of opinion about you and you aren't just one in a crowd! That says something about your popularity...good or bad..lol

A salute to you SV. I know some long time buds know who and what I am. Even some disagreeing people still respect that I'm me and what I do. The star system I'll rant at more than my own star. My own star is going nowhere (well, it might go back down again -_-). Either way, I'll still be me. Thanks for the comments.

I was a 4 way back at 200 posts and kept it for 800 more posts. Then I got an 8, and 24hrs later, boom back to 5, then 4. Then 5. Its like a rollercoaster and I know I'm getting trolled/star vandalized. The low star rating interest is a support group, so people can vent and we can all come together on it.

Stars...smars! No matter what your star rating is...many of us value you as a Blue star all the way! I have been sitting a blue for quite awhile and have no idea what the ratio is because I use Firefox and for some reason it doesn't allow me to check the true rating. At one time I thought I'd be disappointed if it dropped...and it still might bother me a tad. However, I think we 'rate' each other and know who we value for the quality of their responses and discussions. I am not even sure why Mylot has it...evidently it doesn't affect earnings...and if we value each other for who we are...what does the star really indicate in the grand scheme of things. I don't really think it motivates anyone more than they already are either. When mine dropped a number of points when I first became a member I noticed it took forever to come back up. So it falls fast..and rises slowly. Just keep on doing what you are doing...star rating or not. I love your views...and appreciate reading them where ever they show up! Raia

Raia, as always you've made a thoughtful addition to this discussion. I'm not trying to horn in on Pro, whose discussion this is, but I'm really "feeling his pain" at the moment so I feel compelled to respond again. It is having friends like you, who are deservedly held in high regard here, that makes me feel troubled by my own dropping star rating. You and some of my other great friends here have obviously done something very right to keep your high ratings while some of my other friends, like Pro, have suffered the same type of fate that I'm currently suffering. I just don't want to have any of my wonderful "Blue Star" friends to think I'm not a good member when they see my rating. It's really sad and frustrating to see what kind of damage one person and maybe a few of her friends, who knows, can do to someone in the blink of an eye. I hate being put on the defensive but I really didn't do anything wrong other than to bring up that it wasn't "nice" to make an allegation about someone's personal life for no reason, at least no reason that I knew of. It's something I'd hope someone would do for me if I were being accused of something possibly unfairly. Many people speak of their religious beliefs but I don't talk about that a great deal but I do believe in the Golden Rule and I try very hard to live my life by it. Oh, well, I guess it's time for me to get over it and move on, right? But I still keep dropping like a fly! Annie

Programer you certainly are worth your weight in gold here at myLot (and other places I am sure) I am not sure how the star rating works here, though I have just noticed there is a shiny yellow thing next to my name. I won't get too attached at this stage as by the sounds of it it will go soon! Regardless of what myLot reckons I give you a 10 for your comments!

After my rating went down a couple of points following a post I responded to and disagreed with (was jumped on my a few buddies of the OP), I struggled to get it back up. I was successful and then it dropped again following another similar situation. Things had settled for some time then the other day I see my number has dropped 2 points over night. Wow! Thee's no indication that I offeneded or upset anyone for them to do this to me. LOL. I don't understand how this rating works although there are some very negative nasty people here who really deserve to be rated low but there are others who give no reason for a low rating...yourself included. I try not to worry about it.

The thing that gets me is that myLot insist (refer Crash) that 1 or 2 people (or even a handful) cannot affect one's star rating...that means that many have to be rating us negatively for our numbers to drop. If there is a big drop, that must mean hundreds of users are rating us negatively. Now that gives credence to the idea that interesting, intelligent and well written discussions don't cut the mustard...said discussions must obviously be over the top of some users heads. It also makes me think that blue stars are popular so automatically (in a lot of cases) must get a plus vote. And, anything that is not blue draws a negative vote. It's a bit trite but not if you look at the big picture.

I'm still trying to figure out why my own plummets happened. I mean... 8 then 4. Someone had to be angry or unable to argue back. I have to agree I've seen a few people earn their lower ratings, but I see more people with lower or middle ratings even though they are very good for mylot. Thanks for sharing your peace MsTickle. Sorry about your instance of being doubleteamed unfairly. As always, if something really bothers you or if you want a word, I'm just a PM away. That goes for all my friends on the lot.

I'd just like to say I agree this star rating is broken! It wouldn't be so bad if we were dealing with mature adults who knew the definition of "discussion" and who took a look at the guidelines, but myLot obviously gives some of its members credit for more intelligence than they have. Pro, I've never been able to figure out why your rating was where it is; for sure, I can't see why anyone would hate you! You're opinionated at times but you back up your opinions with facts or reasoning and you're not disrespectful and spiteful. Some of your discussions fly over my head too, like someone else here said, especially the ones about science because I'm not very good in that subject...lol. That may be the key - the stupid ones among us don't like being made to feel stupid. To me it's more of a challenge to learn more but that's just me. I just wish I had a prettier color now. Maybe they could at least let us choose our own color? Annie

As always, thanks a million for your support. I vote for the designer star and for them to make it so in order for someone to rate someone in a discussion other than the one they started they should have to make at least one response to that discussion. My thought is the trolls wouldn't do that in many cases because most immature, small-minded people seem to assume others are just like them so they wouldn't want to expose themselves to the same abuse they're giving out. I guess your current detractor(s) don't sleep, or they have the free time to keep doing it. I mean its a lot. Trying to page through each response just to hit a negative. Somehow they do it. -_- I do like the idea of decorator stars. Thats excellent!! As for responses I'm glad at your comment on it. For the discussions, hey fair enough. I understand about the discussions, especially science and philosophy. *loving chuckle* Hopefully your star will get back to 8 and higher Annie. Should be easier for you and you do have my votes of course.

There's plenty of responses to go through, and I realize I can say some things people don't agree with, and other things people REALLY don't agree with. I'm glad to say that even members who don't agree still see what I'm saying and respect my efforts in posting. Even better than that, I spend more time helping others, supporting others and having fun with others on mylot. I'm very glad more members see and know this. Thank you very much Pom.

I have been having a red star for a very long time and i really dont know why. Star colour and number does not affece my earning so sometime i dont even notice it. I only concentrate on earnings and number of postings. I was keen on hitting the 100 posting point so i can have a star. I got one and since then i never mind its colour. Thanks for bringing up this topic.

The worst part is I've plused virtually everything you've done... and nothing happened. In fact I think I was trying to rate your stuff and then the third time I went on a run you had the infamous "0" star. I was stunned. Red if anyone's a hero you're one. There are people intentionally going the other direction (that's right I have to see how some of their efforts went). Being one of two known members that held the seemingly impossible 0 star, you're a hero to people doing the star ratings protest.

Weird... it might be someone following you negativing anything new you've got while other members are rating you positive. Keep in mind the negatives have more weight than positives. So it could be that people are rating you, but someone is tailing you and hitting negative. Its imbalanced though. Several people are helping you step forward but its all erased due to one or two people hitting negatives. Thanks for the compliment. I really like how this avatar turned out. Might adjust it a bit more, but I knew this one was "mylot worthy!"

Recent victims for the most part are losing either a few points or a couple of star levels... and its the first time. Still a sad situation though. I on the other hand have been through the star system drop and crash three different times. And on top of that the star rating doesn't really move anymore. There is quite a disparity between the victimization. But there's no reason to pack up or stay silent or anything of the sort.
