Some people usually think that an afternoon nap is unhealthy, but I read in a magazine recently that a short nap (45 minutes) may actually keep one more alert and help to concentrate better! Thats only 1 magazine but what is the truth. If its true then all companies and schools should allow their students and employees to get a short zzzzzzz in the afternoon!! Lol... just thinking out loud.

I've been taking an afternoon nap ever since I was a little boy. It helps to keep my blood pressure down and my blood sugar. It serves as an adjunctive to my B/P Meds and my Diabets meds. I took naps in grade school(the nuns encouraged it) and high school and college and even in the Army ; even in Vietnam where the nap is very popular.
I am now approaching 61 and am in good health and look a lot younger than other men of my age. It also improves my attitude and my overall psychological reactions. The afternoon nap is a very healthy form of behavior and should be encouraged.

For me personally I think it depends on the situation and the person whether a short nap does them good or harm. I know for many it could be a matter of Health related to it as well. I have heard that a 20 min. quick power nap is actually good for you and can regenerate and motivate you in getting things done you need to do as well.

Absolutely true!Naps should be limited to 45 minutes and should be avoided after 4 pm; otherwise, one may enter deep sleep, which may cause grogginess for a period of time after the nap and reduce the pressure for sleep that night..
