Boil water in a pan and put some Eucalyptus oil in to it. Cover your head with cloth and take deep inhalations by leaning over the pan. This method reduces the headache and cold.
Crush some garlic and put it in boiling water. Strain the water and add some turmeric powder to it and drink when hot. Do this twice daily.

The herbs that are most effective in treating colds are Elder, Fenugreek, Horseradish, Hyssop, St John's Wort, Slippery Elm and Yarrow.
In the initial stages of a cold use an Echinacea and Golden Seal combination to prevent infection by boosting the immune system. Take Golden Seal and Echinacea as a tea or take one to two capsules of each twice daily.
Eat garlic for its antibacterial and antiviral properties.
Ginger, Catnip and Yarrow can be used to promote sweating. Use these herbs as hot herbal teas.
Make a garlic, lemon and honey syrup. Blend a few cloves of garlic into honey and add freshly squeezed lemon juice. Taken as a syrup this mixture makes an excellent treatment for sore throats and bronchial disorders.

try taking a very hot shower or leaning over a bowl or boiling water with a towel over your head to breathe in all the steam. this will hopefully help to open up your airways and break up any phlegm you've got in there... which in turn should help the coughing. hope you feel better soon!

Sometimes taking vitamin C helps with a cold. Otherwise, rest as much as you can. Hot things to drink usually help me. They clear my head a little.
