Frustrating LOST announcement

I read today that Lost will not be fulfilling their promise to give us 16 episodes this Spring, but rather, because of the strike we will only get 11 or 12. They said that there were 8 episodes filmed and completed before the writer's strike, and that they can get 3 or 4 additional filmed before the end of the season, which will shorten this half-season even more. It is very frustrating to me, because this is one of my favorite shows, and now I get to see even less of it this year! What do you all think about this? Is it going to hurt the show?

That is really frustrating. I mean I understand why the writers needed to strike. But does Lost need to be hurt in the long run? Does anyone remember how many sessions it was supposed to be for? I know that they agree to something but I cant remember.

The writers strike has hurt all the shows. There is no way that they can write and produce shows quickly enough to salvage the season. I do like Lost too. It is a very hard to follow show unlike some others. If you miss an episode you could be lost, no pun intended. Hopefully Lost and the other shows will be able to get scripts that can continue the sagas or at least bring us up to date on things. Comedy shows, to me, show be easier to do but shows like Lost and Greys Anatomy or Desperate Housewives have such long ongoing plots it will be tough to finish the season well. Guess they will all be cliffhangers. Another of my favorite shows may not even get on until nest year"24". There is now way they can do that show in a few episodes. Then they would have to call it "8 hours".

Yeah they said 24 probably won't be back until 2009 now. That is sure going to make some people very unhappy!

I know it's frustrating. I don't watch lost currently but I have been waiting and waiting on The Office. I LOVE that show! The only good thing is that I've managed to catch up on a bunch of Office reruns that i never saw b/c I just recently got into the show. Yep that's right, I really got into the show for the first time only weeks before the dang writer's strike! So I only saw like 3 "new" episodes and have since been watching Old ones.

Don't believe everything you hear. LOST was entirely written before they even began shooting the series. LOST is not like other shows where you might have different writers for different episodes. For instance. CSI is a show that has a different storyline each week. Thusly the opportunity for different writers. That has been the case for most prime time shows. LOST on the other hand is an ongoing storyline. Every detail has to fit with those that have come before and after. The only writers of LOST are the guys who created it. These guys did such intense research they had to write the show entirely to make sure there are no mistakes. This series is much like a very popular book. The Da Vinci Code. In the way that it is a fact based fantasy story. They finished filming the three remaining seasons during the long absence from TV. They did this for logistical and monetary reasons. It is much cheaper to finish now than to call everyone back to Hawaii several more times to finish the remaining seasons. Stay tuned and see if they are playing more head games with us. In the mean time go have some fun here. http://www.flyoceanicair.com/ When the video ends it should take you here. http://www.find815.com/site/index.php Be patient and enjoy. ‹(°¿°)›

Yeah, it is very sad that this has to happen. But hey, it seems the Internet is taking over the boob toob anyway. I would rather watch my tv shows online than have to sit in front of the boob toob anyway. This way, I can multi task too.

Hi, I don't think Lost will lose viewers, b/c if you're anything like my husband, sure he's upset about it, but he isn't going to miss ANY episode. Whether he's recorded or watched it while it was on. It really is a unique show, and I watch it with him. There's nothing out there that's like it. If you find any though, pls let me know. B

You are 100% right. I am upset about it, but what can I do? I am addicted, and will of course be there to watch.

The ratings have been down for the show, so yes they will lose some viewers. I think this show isn't going to lose as many as another show 24, which looks like no new episodes in 2008. Episode 8 was the last completed episode before the strike, so we do have episodes to view now.
