This game is all the rage. Someone told me you can play games like tennis/kickboxing and actually lose weight because the game is so lifelike. Has anyone tried this before?

The Wii Sports (Wii Tennis and Wii Bowling especially) are really fun. They aren't close at all to the real thing. However, it definitely feels more real, since you are mimicking the actions of a tennis player or bowler. I doubt you could lose much weight playing the Wii. Sure it involves more moving than standard button mashing controllers, but not much more. You just swing your arms around and twist your wrist. There's hardly anything aerobic in that. If you want to lose weight playing games, you'd have a better change with Dance Dance Revolution. You usually use both your legs, which have the most muscle mass in your body.

I guess it depends on how much energy you put forth in it. I know we play our hearts out and the kids are quite animated. Dance revolution for WII rocks.

Bowling is more than standing around but thanks for comment. I want to know everything about this game before I buy it. Is dance dance a wii game?

My cousins have a Wii and I was at their house a few weeks ago playing it, it was the first time I played. I'm not into video games myself. It was fun I played tennis and boxing and let me tell you especially with the boxing you can get a workout.

Oh man yes we have a blast. Its the first gaming console we have owned that we all can play together at the same time. The sports games are awesome. But our favs are Guitar hero, 3 dance revolution, and bowling. Yes indeedy you can sure work up a sweat. The next game we want now is Rock band. Even Pops and I play with the Sons and grand children. How cool is that?

That doesn't sound silly at all :) Its become bit of a craze recently & even celebrities have admitted to using their nintendo wii to help them excercise! I own a wii sports & find it a great fitness tool. The tennis is quiete good & the boxing one especially. After playing these my arms get really tired & definitely think they've become more toned over the past few weeks. Its a great way to keep motivated as its fun & you don't even have to leave the comfort of your home to do it! There are also several dance games avaliable & Nintendo are realising other fitness games other than wii sports so keep an eye out for them as well! Hope this helps :)

I actually wrote a weight loss article on this subject. I read a lot about it. I will publish that article on ehow as soon as I get power back so you guys can all read it. My id on there is the same as on here for anyone who wants to check it out. They are actually coming out with a wii weight loss program. I read about it. I think they are making something you stand on too. Like for skiing and stuff. I have a friend who has one and she plays with her 2 sons. She has told me that her arms get sore from playing. I don't have one myself, but I think that is what I will get my daughter for here b-day in June. Maybe sooner tho. You know you can't always wait.

Wow! Maybe I will check into this wii some more. One person made a comment above no way you can lose weight but I think if you just move your body a little weight can be lost and from what I hear, you move your body alot in wii. Anything you do for long periods of time has to pay off some day right?

You have to stand up and move around. How would you not lose some weight if you usually sitting on your butt most of the time? All I know is what I have read and been told by my friend. Even if you don't lose weight, you are definitely working your muscles.
