I believe it's everyone's right to celebrate the day of his/her birth. We can celebrate our birthdays in so many different ways. My friend thought she would be more happy if she celebrates her birthday by donating to the orphanage instead of spending for her party. She had a very great time.

Celebrating birthdays I think is more important and more exciting when you are younger, as a child it was a wonderful time, friends coming round for a party, presents be given to you and being extra spoilt, cake, sweets and being spoilt and made a fuss off! I think when you get older you feel you are getting older and it's not something to celebrate so much, a year closer to the grave. The only way I celebrate my birthday now is that I don't work on my birthday! I always take the day off as annual leave, I don't believe in working on your special day. Special birthdays like 21, 30, 40, 50, 60 etc should be celebrated more. I have my 40th on the horizon! I don't know whether I should be happy or sad!

I still like to celebrate birthdays, especially for my children. My eldest has had a birthday party every year. I always like to have parties especially for milestone birthdays - 18th, 21st, 30th. I actually have my best friends 30th party this weekend, I can't wait. Also birthdays only happen once a year, so why not celebrate them.

I think it is still important, but doing a lavish party or something is a no-no. Celebrating it with your family and close friends will be enough.....And going to church and thanking God is also a must.
