Most people still and want to celebrate Valentine day, especially teenage couple, newlyweds, young couples or those who who are blessed with loving marriages. But really, do you think Valentine day is only meant for those who are in love? For me, my valentine are my sons. What about you? What does Valentine day means to you? Do you still give or receive flowers/chocolate or maybe going out for a romantic dinner?

Yes, it would be nice to get Valentines from my kids. After all it's all about love and giving. Having said that, I thought I was okay with Valentine's Day but apparently I have a slight depression coming up. I've been divorced now for five years or so and it's finally sinking in. Duh me! I'll get over it. But tomorrow, I'm staying in bed.

Ohh...I'm sorry to hear that. But don't let the depression get you. Just remember, Valentine's days is for everyone whether they are married, couples, single, parents, young or old. So, go out, have fun and celebrate!

Oh my, yes Valentines Day is for celebrating those you care about. My husband and I have been together for almost 18 years and we still acknowledge all holidays and our traditions. I also give to my children and grandchildren and spend time with them when I can. I sad that "special" days are few. So I try to make other days special as well. For Mothers Day and Fathers day I give single friends and family a card for the opposite gender, because they are being, (in some cases) both mother and father. It's just to acknowledge them and to let them know...I understand and respect them. It helps them to feel good and they laugh when I give them their cards. I just think it's a nice touch for them. Valentines Day is for everyone. Not just your loved ones.

That is wonderful. I think we all should acknowledge all holidays and our traditions. I think it will make us all so busy and so excited looking forward for the holidays. And of course, I agree with you that Valentine's days is for everyone!

I think there is no need of a special day for the love.If the love true and strong i think there is no need of celebrating it.Now valentine days means promoting business.

We dont go overboard for valentines Day. My birthday is only four days before Valentines, & having two celebrations so close together seems a bit over the top. I gave my husband a card for Valentines Day this year. He gave me a huge musical card & a pot plant with flowers. I was very pleased.

Yes I do still celebrate valetine's day. I do not believe that Valetine's Day is only for people that are in love. I mean your Valetine can be someone you admire enough to say hey I was thinking of you today. Valetine's Day to me is a day where I can show my love and appreciation to my loved ones and the people that I admire. I love to give and also recieve things. Like this Valetine's Day is special to me because it is the first Valetine's Day that I will be spending with the love of my life. I give gifts to my mother becuase she will always be my special Valentine because with out here there would be one me. So you don't have to be a couple or in a relationship to get someone something.

hi ellie! for me, valentine is the celebration of the love that is there for the whole year. it is not just for lovers. i take that opportunity to celebrate love. throughout the years, i have celebrated valentines in different ways. sometimes, wtih friends, with oficemates, with family, and now that i am married, i celebrated the day with my hubby. i think that looking at it from an optimistic point of view, we don't need to have lovers to celebrate valentines. God bless you with more love in your life! :-)

My husband and I don't actually celebrate Valentines but I got a surprise today from him and he bought me a book and a card signed by him and my son. I also got some baked cookies from my lovely neighbor so I felt spoiled today. It doesn't mean anything to me as I consider it just another day. I may have celebrated it once when I was dating but thats about it. It was just it to show that special someone I really liked him.

No I don't celebrate it. Personally, I think Valentine's Day is too commercialised now that it lost its true meaning. Companies only think of flowers, chocolates and gifts whenever the day comes. Now I think many teenagers take it seriously even though they're still young. This really eroded Valentine's Day's meaning. For me its not worth the money or time to celebrate, since its pointless.
