Will Hillary's old Dirty Tricks work this time?

I noticed this morning that Hillary Clinton's camp rolled out the big guns. I don't mean Bill Clinton, either. They've brought out Operation SMEAR. Yes, I couldn't believe it.
Their campaign is so desperately behind that they've resulted to attack ads and negative campaigning.
This tactic has worked in the past for Bill Clinton (using James Carville as his attack dog-in-chief) and George Bush (with Karl Rove as his doberman-in-chief).
With Obama's popularity so sky high, will this tactic work this time around?

In a sense we are not choosing the best candidate, but rather, picking the lesser of two evils, right?
The U.S. needs a third or fourth political party. Choosing between a Republican or Democrat just doesn't seem to provide good enough options, don't you think?
Although, I do see Obama getting more and more attractive to the general public.
