Adam's "retard" comment

How does everyone feel about the comment that Adam made about "retards getting their hair done together"? I thought that it was inappropriate and he sounded like a jerk. I used to work with the developmentally disabled and I had a close aunt who had down syndrome and she hated the word "retard". I found many people to be offended by the term, even though it has been used in the past to describe someone who is mentally challenged. I know that he works in the field and he said that he does a lot for individuals that are developmentally disabled, which would lead me to believe that he would know how some people feel about the term "retard".

I really thought it was a thoughtless comment. I have already decided that I don't like his attitude or his partner. Actually my husband and I are not finding this season's show as interesting as the previous ones. I end up flipping channels. Maybe it will get better as it goes along.

I was very offended by his statement. I hate when people just throw that term around so easlily. You would also think that someone who works with children who have disabilities would have more respect.

You have to consider the source. Adam seems like a buffoon. Remember Amber's remark about Jews last year? That was just as bad. Adam's words are bad, but so are the actions of some of the other houseguests. CBS really picked some classless people this time. It's really not a good sampling of American people, in my opinion.

I was shocked that he would use such a term given what he does for them. But, I was also annoyed that Sheila got mad at him for using the word once and then proceeded to use it several more times as she retold the story of Adam's indiscretion to anyone who would lend her an ear. By saying it over and over and over again, I feel like she was abusing it and she was just as bad. She really needs to shush!
