My daughter is 12 and her father owes about 11 grand in back child support, he was just put into jail last week for some other charges. My case worker told me to let her know he's where abouts because they could not locate him. Well I have left several different messages for her to let him know that he is in jail. Does anyone know about child support laws in Mississippi? I know that the state is not going to pay if for him so how am I supposed to get it? I know the last time he was in jail 4 years ago was the last time I recieved any money but that came from his bond money. When I call the agency about this case they tell me that there are thousands of other people trying to get child support and they could not put my case ahead of theres, I got mad becuase this case has been open for 10 years and I have only once in the last 10 years every gotten any money from him. He hasn't called her or tried to see her in the last 5 years. What should I do?

Have you checked with the Attorney General's office there? They may have a program for finding and getting back child support. Also check with any local legal aid or low cost lawyers espcially ones that specialize in child support. There are also collection agencies that specialize in getting the back payment. You could go on the Supportkids.com website. They helped me get find and get mine. They do take a percentage of the payments, but it is better than nothing. Good luck.
