I am already on my early 30's. And I must admit, I am still dreaming of becoming a surgeon. I already finished a pre-med course. Still planning to take another one before pursuing to medicine.
But my age is a great factor I am considering now. I admit, I feel a little shy and I am afraid my mind is no longer as sharp as it used to be.
Do you think it will still be okay for me to go back to school? How about you guys? Will you still go to school even though you're over school age?

of course! You go! I went back after having 3 children. My daughter went to be a surgical nurse after having 6 children. It's never too late to realize your dream.

Even after having all 6 children and schooling, plus full time working...my daughter wants to continue her studies to be a doctor. This is her dream.
You are never too old to go to school and to learn or realize your dreams.

I really admire you for considering going back to school to learn! I went back to school at the age of 32 and it was real scary and it was a big gamble too, I found it very hard mainly because I was the only man on the course and the rest of the students were girls of 16 and 17! I wanted to learn childcare and it was a 3 year course so I graduated at 35! I am very glad I did it and I have the necessary qualifications and certificate to present to future employers, it is never too late to earn and people in their 50s still go to school to learn new things! Good luck to you and go for it, if it what you want to do, then nothing should stand in your way.

I really believe that one is NEVER too old to go for ones dream and make it a reality. So don't be shy about it. In fact, you will be inspiring others to go for their dreams too or what they want too whatever their age. Being in your early 30's is not old also to my thinking. If you know the hollywood actor Michael Douglas, he just finished his law degree and he is in his 70's. I hope that you would push with your studies. If there is a will, there is a way and I am sure you are still very sharp. It's just a matter of getting the hand of it. Goodluck and go for your dreams!

I don't think there is a problem to study at any age. We have a saying here, we will have to learn until we grow old. In fact when I was pregnant, I also studied French and I passed the exam. At that time I was about 28 years old. When you feel like studying something, just do it. Keeping study is a good habit.

We are never too old to learn. I actually am planning to go back to college and get another course. I feel that I am so much more responsible now with my studies and I could even finish this time with a flying color. My experience has taught me a lot especially with time management and responsibilities.

I learn more from my experiences than by merely reading information from a book or receiving it from someone.

I did go back to school after 30's ... I was 36 ..It was after a divorce ... and i went back to get my degree at university and i was raising 3 sons at the time .... on now financial backing ...from ex spouse or anyone ... Yes do what it is you want to do .. Dont let time or money or anything get in your way ... make a goal and step out and get it .. it will make you feel great .... its not the goal but the journey that is always important and dont let fear stand in your way .... or what others think ... just be, do and accomplish that which you want and be happy .....

I say you ought to go for it and finish your studies no matter what your age. I regret not having finished nursing school. I did only two years toward my BSN. Now with 3 kids approaching college age, it's not feasible for me to return and get my degree.

Hi,
I would like to go as learning considered to me has no age barrier. I do also like sit with childern to have fun while learning. I do hope learning and being to schools should have any age barrier moreover those rules and guidelines are to obeyed other than age barrier.

It would definitely be okay for you to return to school! I think the competition will be a lot tougher than it was when you were 20, but if your dream is something you really want you will find a way!
I, too, am in my early 30s and will be going back to school in August. I am going to get my teaching certificate. It should be interesting running a business and having a family, but I know that I don't want to be a "stay-at-home" mom forever. Like I said, if your dream is truely something you want you will find a way to make it work!

I would agree with you. More than that though, I would say dreamERS move mountains. It's not the dreams that do it but the people behind those dreams!

it has been said that you die when you stop learning,i dont know what the retirement age is in your country but in case you want to go into private practise its ok to go for the course but i can say this that irrespective of what you decide you will still be the same age after the number of years you were supposed to spend in the study.i went for a course last year too and am in my late thirties now.go on i encourage you

Yes, I will. I'm nearly 31's now. And I have a son who is 4-year old. The next year, after my son go to pre school, I will enroll a part time course in tafe. I want learn more to promote myself.
Actually, I plan to spend 4-5 years to prepare my doctor's licence test. Before that, I will learn some other things to help me find a good job. I did bookkeeper before. But I quit this job at last week. Because I didn't interest in it even I have did it over 1 year.
I want learn other things so I can find job in different areas. I want try more before I go back to be a doctor.
I hope I can reach my goal. And also good luck for everyone.

I'm 32. I've already done my engineering. But I've changed careers now and am doing my Psychology. I've also done a couple of short term courses that will help me in my career.
My family was shcoked with my decision because they felt I couldn't do it with a family and two kids to take care of...not to mention a job. But I find it's all a matter of time management....and is working out great for me.
I was hesistant at first too...but once I got into it, I realized my mind was still in working condition...lol

Don't let age stop you from going out there and pursuing your medical career - I say go for it and don't worry how old you are. YOu have a lot to offer in class having the experience and knowledge too, so don't feel discouraged because you might be older than the rest of your class. I was taking part time papers when I was 32-34 years of age and even though we moved before I finished, it was a great learning experience for me. I am now 37 and contemplating on doing some study and or refresher courses and I really couldn't care less if I was the oldest in the class.

I was 35 when I received my bachelor's degree after going back and forth here, but no, I don't think I'm too old and wouldn't use that excuse no matter what anyone said.

There is no age limit when it comes to studies. I have an uncle of mine who is 56 now and he is doing his masters. This really challenged me. Go ahead dear and do your hearts desire. You might get surprised how sharp your mind is. You know it is getting mature and you are settled.
Me I will go to school even when am 80.
Good luck.
