Sport is defined as an activity requiring skill or physical prowess and as poker requires skill i would say it was a sport however i don't think it counts when doctors tell us to do sport to stay healthy :P

I think it would fall under the sport title. I went to dictionary.com site and typed in sport and got 20 meanings for the word. (I am not able to copy and paste)So you can go and check it out. It could be used as a noun, adjective or verb. Falling under all that to me yes Poker is a sport.

I think its a sport. It has a lot of strategy and takes alot of concentration. You have opponents. You win or you lose. So yeah I think its a sport. I love to play poker. Wish I had more time to play.

According to Princeton University a sport is "an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition". I don't see much physical exertion in poker although in the Western movies cheating in poker often results in severe physical exertion. I would classify it as a pastime.
