which b/w java and .net do you think will take the internet and the computer wolrd to the next level that it needs to be in. i saw in one article that the future of computing is a kind of computer without barrier, a universal server with all computer in a network. i think only java has wat it takes to ahieve that.

I think the future belongs to the open-source and the open-standard.Now open-source software became more and more competiable no matter the usage and the UI.If .Net became open-source and open-standard platform,I think it could be more competiable than Java. But now remains Java.

well, i think java and .NET(c#) are very much similar,a java program can run on any platform ....
we can consider C# as advanced version of java with minor syntax changes.....so a good JAVA programmer is a good .NET programmer as well...
JAVA is a product of sunmicrosystems, while .NET is a product of microsoft...two technological gaints are heavily competing with each other.....

The world does seam to be going in a dynamic type direction, so Groovy, Ruby and Python are all building up steam.
I don't really think any language has a huge overall advantage over any other and so I think we will see both Java, C# and the dynamic typed languages take equal sized chunks out of the future.

Java will be the next future of computing. It will be used for high end applications.
Regarding server managment software microsoft and unix are giants no java, no .net,etc.
.net will be there for future applications but it is limited.
