i think i am a pretty clean person and my bathroom is one room i have to clean daily. when i wash my toilet i clean it from top to bottom inside and out. well i am funny about using others toilets if they don't look clean. i will not if i do not really have to use my in-laws. she cleans hers but only around the rim and the bottom is just nasty i also have an aunt that has a nasty toilet that i do not like to use.
some people think i am weird cuz of this. so i was wondering how many others are like me? and how you clean your toilet?

I cleAan mine from top to bottom and inside and out also. We have very hard water in the town we live in though and hard water likes to sit up inside around the rim. I scrub it and scrub it but it will not all come off. I may buy new toilets and replace the old ones but I know we will have the same problem as before. I am a very clean person too and cannot stand the hard water to set up in there. I will not use a nasty toilet either. It grosses me out.

I would love to have a water softener here too. I have one of those stone things but it doesn't work on the toilet. I guess the hard water set up too bad in there. The stone actually scrathed the porcelain on some parts of the toilet also.
I wish I could get my shower door to be spotless also. I have tried everything on it to remove the hard water spots, but nothing had worked so far.

We have very hard water here too, I finally got a water softener - LOVE IT!!! I used to have to scrub with a pumice stone (hard to find - in the cleaning aisle usually on the top shelf where you dont see them) every couple of months or so, but I haven't had to once since the softener - Now if I could just get the glass shower door cleaned up..:(

I've been using a dremel with one of those little scruby sponge disks on it. It works really well, but it burns up the disks really quickly, and I can only do a small section at time before I get a headache from the noise in the little space. So, I have about 1/4 of the door done. The water softener is one of the best things we have ever done. It was worth every penny, and Culligan has a rental program too.

When my husband and I moved in together and I realized he was the type of guy to leave the toilet seat up I made a deal with him... You clean the bathroom and I will put the seat up for you or I clean the bathroom and you put the seat down. My husband has cleaned the bathrooms for the past 4 years! He rather me put that seat up. I think its just to agervate me. lol. Anyway he cleans the bathrooms once a week. He is really good about cleaning inside outside around and all. I couldn't see him cleaning it every day I wouldn't even do that.

Crap...no pun intended! Why didn't I think of that?
But, I have to say that my hubby has always been good about putting the toilet seat down. Although, I think part of the reason is because we close the toilet entirely to keep the cats and dog out of it. So, whether it was something he already did or something that he started doing right away in order to prevent and pets from getting into the toilet, I don't recall.

I do clean our toilet and even taught the people around the house the proper way of cleaning it, in-case I'm not around.
My background for house-keeping is what made me aware of being clean, be it our toilet or the house as a whole. I also make sure that our toilet not only looks clean, but also it does smell clean.
I have no procedure in cleaning it, since it just have to be sanitized and disinfected..

I have really tried to have a cleaning routine for the past year and it has worked fairly well. Somewhere I read that you should let your bathroom clean while you sleep and it has made life easier. I pour bleach into the toilet before I go to sleep and I usually spray vinegar water into the tub every other night to soak overnight. In the morning, all you have to do is swish the water in the toilet with a brush(as long as no one used it overnight) and then I do another spray of the tub and wipe it down with a wet rag. You have now sanitized both the tub and the toilet and cleaned them and most of the work was done overnight as you slept. I also wipe down the outside of the toilet every other day.
I like to learn short cuts to cleaning as it is one chore I don't like.

There is nothing weird about that at all. I am very leery of using public toilets if ever! Everyone laughs at me, but I will not use a public toilet unless it's absolutely necessary. If someone's toilet is not clean in their home, I will not use it either. I in fact will make an excuse to leave when I have to go to the bathroom and I end up going home.

Oh, I forgot to tell you how I clean my toilet! I clean the entire thing! From top to bottom and the inside and then the rim. I feel that germs land everywhere, so best to do the whole thing!

We clean our toilets once a week. My hubby thinks they could go longer but I want them clean befrore they need to be so that I am never digging around in a dirty toilet. When I was pregnant I developed a serious distaste for even remotely dirty toilets. I spent 9 months studying them so I think I have earned the right to decide how often I will be cleaning mine. Who knows when you will be closely studying a tpilet next.

first off I put the cleanser into the bowl (I like to use "the works" for this, I then close the lid to let it start working before I scrub it... during this time I use ammonia based cleanser to clean the tank lid, the outside of the tank front and sides, and the flusher.
I then move to the outside sides and front of the bowl - and down around the floor where all the dust and hair particles like to settle around that little nub.
After this I scrub the bowl with a brush, and up and under the lid....flush. when this is done I go back to the ammonia water and clean the lid, rim - seat and under the seat.
Only, I do not do this as often as you. at our house a thorough cleaning is more likely done on a weekly basis - though I do like to wipe down the seat daily.
I have heard some people will remove the seat and soak it on a regular basis, in the tub - and also clean out the inside of the tank. I have never done either of these.

I agree. I hate using a toilet that looks gross!
I clean my toilet once a week top to bottom, inside and out. I use the toilet scrubby things that flush for the inside and clorox wipes for the outside, top, bottom, around the floor and everywhere else. I use the wipes more than once a week~ sometimes more than once a day. It depends on the use of that toilet that day.

I thought I was bad about my toilets, but WOW!, daily! I clean mine every week or so with bleach. I'm not a tidy person, I clean, but don't worry about the pile of newspapers on the table, or the toys scattered around. But, I do vaccuum atleast 4 times a week (2 little kids, and 2 hairy dogs) and I have to clean the toilets - even if I do nothing else.
