I was in the dressing room of a local department store trying on some dress pants. I couldn't help but notice the young woman who went into the dressing room next to mine. She was carrying several swimsuits. Sfter trying on the pants, I put my jeans back on and bent over to tie my shoes. I couldn't help but notice the woman's panties in the floor of the next dressing room. She was trying on the swimsuits without her panties! There are signs in each of the dressing rooms that state, "for hygiene purposes to please keep undergarments on when trying on swimsuits." What are your thoughts on this issue?

The woman is a jerk! Some people can never follow the rules no matter how much sense the rules make. Some people just figure they will do it their own way.
Just like the jerks that paint their fingernails with polish in the store. Who wants to buy polish that is used, or lipstick that someone has already used?
I caught a teenager painting her nails one day in Walmart, and told her that wasn't the right thing to do. Her Mother walked from around the end of the row and yelled at me for saying that to her daughter. She was doing the same thing. She said that it was ok. That was what the polish was there for, to try out first. What is the world coming to? How do you teach kids the right way when the parents are teaching them the wrong way?
Shalom

You are so right Adoniah, seems many parents are shunning their parental roles and duties these days.

OMG, Grandma, we are sooooo much alike. I started laughing hysterically when I saw the little green cyclopse!! Yup, his face pretty much sums up my face when I saw that woman's undies in the floor!

Ewwwwwww, that kind of person is exactly WHY it's important to keep your drawers on when trying on a swimsuit! I'm afraid I probably would have told the lady in charge of the dressing rooms about it. Not sure, but I'd bet if they knew that she would have had to purchase them. How unsanitary! Obviously that young lady doesn't care about her own health or the health of others, either that or she's just ignorant about possible consequences.

In the area in which I live, sadly it is probably ignorance of the possible consequences. There is a terrible lack of public education here. Not so much in the city limits, but in the miles and miles of county (hollers) area.

Hi crazynurse,
Just another passing thought - if this is how people behave in normal times, how are they possibly going to survive when an Ebola epidemic breaks out?
Survival of the fittest - those who follow the rules should eventually win out.

Oh that's just GROSS! I would have had to of pointed that out to the dressing room attendant or mentioned it to a clerk to go check that out. I think she should be required to purchase every garment she tried on that way. She must be a total idiot! I bet you won't be buying a swimsuit from that store..hehe.

Sadly I bet it happens in pretty much all stores. I think should I need to try on a swimsuit in the future, I'll wear several pairs of undies, complete with some type of shield!!! No way that fabric is touching my undies or me!

I don't say this very much, but EWW!
What that woman did is just disgusting! I don't even try on clothes, let alone bathing suits, when I am at the store for this very reason! I don't think I ever noticed anyone do this, though I have thought about the possibility, so I just buy them and hope they fit! LOL And of course I wash them prior to wearing them. So far I've lucked out and they've fit! LOL

My immediate thought is... EEEEUUUUUUU! And, it makes me want to double up on my panties when I think about trying on something that someone else went "commando" in. Some people can be so inconsiderate, not to mention gross! The last couple of swimsuits I've bought were from Sam's Club (at my current weight it's more about just having a cover to swim in than about any kind of fashion) and there's not a lot of trying on there, I don't think, but that's just gross. I'm sure that she wanted to see what it would look like without her panties, but HELLO? How about just tucking the edges in to give you an idea, or something.
My thoughts on the issue? It's rude beyond belief.

Hi crazynurse,
I'm a little confused as to why this should cause anyone problems - I'd expect that the person who is rubbing their veges on the garments would have more to be worried about than someone who kept their knickers in place.
And to make doubly sure about it, one has only to make sure that all garments are put through the washing machine with some disinfectant before they're used (again) after the shopping trip.
The hygeine thing should only be a problem for those who don't follow the rules, not for those who do.

This is just disgraceful. I hope the person who did the same thing before she tried them had crabs.
That makes me so reluctant to try on swimsuits. In Australia they have a plastic panel strategically placed and also signs asking that undies be left on. This is for the protection of EVERYONE. Why are people so stoopid to go against these hygenic precautions? It can only be for the sake of vanity to see how the swimsuit looks. I so despise selfish people like this who are prepared to not only jeapardise their own health but the health of others as well.

YUCK OOOUUUUU Maybe being fat is where it's at!!! I'm too fat to go parading around in a swimsuit, but that is just nasty. I am relieved to know I will never have to worry this nightmare. hehehe

Well I am speaking from the guy's point of view here.
When we wear trunks, we don't wear anything underneath.
How can we test trunks if we don't bare it all? There will be an extra layer and it is hard to test properly. Extra because for trunks, we need to really buy one size smaller than the one that fits because the trunks will expand upon contact with water.
With another layer, it is a bit hard. And yes, it is gross but many things in life are far grosser than this. :P

First of all how gross for taking her underware off when trying on a swim suit. I do not wear new underware or swim suits without washing them first.
When trying on a new swim suit I keep my panties on. I will take off my bra but not my panties.

Yuck, I would be totally digusted by it. That is why when I go and try swimsuits on I make sure all my undergarments stay on and then if I buy it, I take it home and the minute i get through the door it goes in with my new load of laundry. I just can't believe some people.

Not try on swim suits in that store! I would tell the attendant the dressing room entrance what I saw so that she can set the garments aside.

Nasty, nasty, nasty! I would have reported the incident to the staff/management and insisted that the garment she had tried on be removed from sale. In most stores you hand the garments back to one of the staff when you are through trying them on.
