I learned that one of my online friends, and the only person I've ever gotten to join me here, passed away on Valentine's Day.
She was a cat lover extraordinair! She was also a nice person.
They are saying it was a heart attack related to her diabeties, but her other onlines friends and I think its was a broken heart.
GaiaFireLynx was her mylot name. She hasn't been real active lately because of that self same broken heart.
The world, if not mylot, has lost a good person.

I didn't know your friend, being a somewhat new member on this site, but I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you and that I am sincerly sorry that you lost someone who you obviously cared for.

Well at least you have the comfort of knowing that through the internet you had the privilege of meeting someone you may never have met otherwise.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like she was very special to you. My online friends are more family to me than most of my blood relatives.

I didn't get to meet the friend you mention, but I'm so sorry that she has gone. I'm thinking you're probably right about the broken heart theory, because Valentine's day would be a pressure day, for sure.
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of this friend, and allow me to join you in prayer for her peaceful journey to the Otherworld. Brightest Blessings.

Oh wow... now I feel quite bad because I may have been able to lift her had I only come across her. I guess that's easy to say in hindsight, but I really wish our paths had crossed. Still, what will be will be, I suppose. If we were fated to meet, then I'm sure we would have done. She sounds to have been a really nice person... so sad.

Thanks AmbiePam, I hate having friends die, even long distance friends. This is the first person I've known to die this year, I can hope it'll be the only one, but I'm not holding my breath.
I haven't heard if there's someone to step into take her cat.

I never got to meet Gaia in person, but I'd had a long distance, email/message board relationship with her for the last 3 years. I've tried to be supportive of her recent change in living conditions and help her any way I could from 1000 miles away.

THen you truly were a good friend to her...Here's to her memory!
MEMORIES
There’s a silence in your life today,
A place no one can share.
A missing part
Within your heart.
For one, that was so rare.
Where memories now must fill the gap
For the voice you’ll never hear
A soft refrain,
Will now remain
Just an echo in your ears.
There’s sometimes disagreements,
Between the people that we love.
But time can heal
No one can steal
Great lessons from above.
So when it’s time to say goodbye
There is no easy way.
Forgive, forget,
Shrug off regret
For there’s nothing left to say.
There’s a silence in your life today
A place no one can share.
But they’re in your heart,
That missing part.
Great love is still so rare.

Thank you keeper. I hope that is true, because she was following a path that most Christians would feel was wrong. I can only hope that he can forgive her, she did no harm, and tried to always be a good person, doing what good she could on her limited ablities.

I am still mourning the loss of my dear friend Judy who passed away nearly 2 years ago. I miss her terribly. It helps me to talk to her when I am down. Her voice and laughter comes to me still with such clarity.

Douglas Adams I don't think had anything to do with diabetes but here nor there we lost a great writer.
My grandmother had it and ended up dying of arthritis... another condition I didn't know you could die of... kinda scary when you think of all the ways you can go......

She sounds like a wanderful person. I am sorry that I did not get to meet her. From what I have read here, she did die of a broken heart because of her cats. That is so sad. I hope she is reunited with them now. That is so sad. That is why it is good to be nice to all of our friends. You never know when your number will be called. May she rest in peace now.

Oh no this is truly sad news as Gaia was one of my on-line friends too here... I think you're so right that she probably did die of a broken heart, and I can't help suspect it was due to her cats she had. I knew she had to make the lousy decision of putting down some of her beloved cats before her move and I don't know if she had already made her move yet--I remember her telling me in a message to me three months ago (and of which I tracked down)one of the cats she had to put down was her beloved Timothy, the one who I believe was the cat nibbling on her ear on her avatar image, but she was going to keep Jezebel

Yes, Timothy is the cat actually licking her ear in her avatar. He had a stroke 3 years ago and nearly had to be PTS then, it was a spinal stroke and only another lady on the board who's cat had also had one, talked her though that. She moved just before Christmas, she told me in early Dec she had gotten the key to the new place and was going to start moving things.
I've posted a quiry on the board as to what has happened to Jezie.

Oh my gosh ElicBxn! Really?! I'm really saddened by the news! I'm so lost for words...
The only thing I can say is, her broken heart is now mended because she's in the Lord's hands now. She's feeling more love now than she ever thought possible. God bless her. May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. I am very new to MyLot, so unfortunately I never got the chance to meet her, and that brings me much sadness. I am sure that she will be greatly missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss :(
I had an online friend pass away a few years ago. I had never met her personally, but chatted with her a lot. It was extremely hard to learn of her passing! My friends who aren't online could not understand why I was so upset by her loss. They kept making comments about how I didn't really know her! Yes, I did! In fact, I'm sure I knew her better than a lot of her regular friends! We spent hours chatting on line and I know she wrote things to me that she never told anyone else about.

I know exactly what you mean Bev. While I wasn't probably her #1 online friend, we did send notes to each other regularly. I do know that she had gotten to actually meet some of her online friends because they lived not too far from her. I've only met one person, and that was because she had a kitten she found that I went and picked up and brought home.
We call him Tony because he came from San Antonio.

I'm so sorry hon. I'm very late on the draw as usual, so I am just finding out about this now. I added her as a friend when you introduced her to us here. She was so sweet and kind. She will be very much missed, for sure. Thank you for posting this hon. Big warm hugs to you.
