If you are in the Philippines then its very easy to find. Filipinos loves oysters and we eat them in many different ways. If you buy it here in the market a kilo would cost you 100 pesos or $2.50. Its cheap because Philippines is a major supplier of oysters, lobster etc around the world.

I think that the love of oysters, is a developed taste! Living on the coast, it is a good food source, that many of us look forward to when the months are cold. We barbecue them a lot, pan fried, or oyster stews. We consume a lot of oysters, but not a lot of raw oysters.

There is a possbility that your wonderful waters are too warm for oysters! I think but am not sure they require the colder waters along our coasts (in Canada)for their propogation. But I am sure, too, you have mouth watering foods that we haven't tasted, or need to create a taste for.

Oyster taste so tasty. I don't know the taste if it is raw, but hotel offer this kind of food raw and a lots of peoples enjoy it. We normally cook the oyster first. For the taste, I can't describe you here because the taste is not like fish, prawn, or cuttlefish at all. It is just it's own taste the oyster taste i can say.

I only had them once years ago and didn't really care for the texture. I put them in the same category as clams and escargot...they seem to have to be drowned in butter or be hidden in a flavorful dish to make them palatable.

oysters have got to be one of my least favored foods. to me they are slimy and gross, and I do not believe I have ever eaten one on purpose. it is a new years eve tradition to eat oyster stew. my grandmother followed this tradition and us kids were made to partake. yuck!
