I have been on the internet now for almost 2 yrs, just doing different websites, I have taught myself a lot of things, To learn something you just half to do it, it is better to do it instead of letting someone tell you how to do it because it can be complicated. You agree? I just learned how to upload pictures, I keep practicing and practicing untill I finally got it. Go see! Have a great day!

Yes, that's right, things seem to be more understandable when you can figure it out on your own! So I try to learn as much as I can on my own, and every once in a while, I'll get to a place I can't figure out,and I'll have to ask for some help from one of my friends!

I believe this is a true statement, not just with PC and internet situations. But also with everyday life. If one has negative thoughts about doing something, no matter what it is, they will not be able to achieve it. If one has positive thoughts about accomplishing something, they will have much better success at achieving it!

I've always believed that if you put your mind to it that you can do it, pretty much no matter what it is. I also believe, for the most part, that it's true, if you have to figure things out on your own, you'll remember them better. Like with the computers, I used to always call my brother to fix my computer problems...I hadn't a clue about some things with it, and I never had computer problems until I got on the internet many years ago. Now I rely on getting information from worldstart.com when I seek answers to my problems, and get their newsletter everyday...I've learned so much more that I haven't had to call my brother for anything the past few years lol. When I'd watch him do stuff to repair my computer I was never able to follow what he was doing, because he was so fast and competent, but by learning it on my own, I find I actually remember it better. The same is true for learning other things, if we put the effort into it and figure it out on our own, it's usually remembered better. It's definitely true we learn from our mistakes as much as our successes.

I have a lot of friends who are newbies on the internet, the one site I always tell them to sign up for their daily newsletter is the worldstart site. I have learned more about how to handle things with my computer than any other site around. Each days newsletter gives you the hint of the day, new virus to look out for (and how to handle them) and all kinds of free applications you can download, etc. They have an archive of articles on their website that's free to read through, and it covers anything you need help with. I think why I learn so much through them is that they have pictures to go along with what they're explaining, and they explain it so you don't have to be a computer geek to understand it all. Nice thing too is that they have a forum, so if you still don't understand something, you can still get help from somebody who has gone through the same computer problem. I love that place!

We really do have alot in common, I have only been on the internet for almost 2 yrs. too. I have leaned most of the stuff on my own too. I know my son is here and knows alot, but I prefer to learn on my own. I remember things better that way. I have also learned alot from being on mylot.

I agree we all can do anything we put our minds to if we want it enough, I built my own webpage in word when everyone told me I couldn't, that webpages couldn't be made in word, well not good ones anyway, but it was easier to understand than the programs I had seen and way cheaper...free...with a lot of negative comments from my web designer friends, I kept at it and I think i ended up doing a good job, and then one day i got an email fro the National Library requesting permission to archive it for all time, so for someone who is not real computer savvy, i think that is ok...

I quite agree with you Marcia. Motivation is a very important key for us to open every door we want to get in. Whether it's intrinsic or extrinsic motivation that drives us do something it we need them to be mobilized. And congratulations for learning something new. Keep up the good work!

Yeah... that's the way I did it. It is easier to remember it if you practice it. But it is only the people who are curious, imaginative and creative who will learn all about their computer. You have to love it. It has to be your hobby. Most people expect their computer to do it all for them... and they don't want to know how the computer does it. As they don't understand their computer... they continually get into trouble.

I think its easier to learn when someone shows you something, however the downfall is that they might not know the easiest way to do the task! So it is better to ask a few people, or ask one person and then when you have an idea what your doing research it a litle more so that you can pick the best way for you ;) Thanks, and you have a good say too marcisascott :)

Yes, I do know that and I tell my 3 year old son that he can do something don't give up keep trying and eventually you'll get it and he has and I've seen great accomplishment in him and I get all excited for him when he has accomplished something that he's wanted to accomplish for a very long time.

That holds true for some things. I try my heart out every day to make my life better for me and my family. I have learned alot of things on my own but had to be taught some of it because I could not figure it out. I have a mission to earn a good income online so we can pay bills off. I have been trying to make it better for 8 years now but it is very slow going because I am working all by myself. If I had good downlines or better sites to earn from, it would be so much better. I don't think I will ever reach that goal though because I can never build a downline and online earnings are not as good as a real job.

Yes, I believe on the power of mind. Many times in my life I faced difficulties and challenges. But I was able to overcame it by believing on myself. And of course, a lot of prayers.
