In my opinion the people those who are racist only cares about there own race of people rather than the people of other races, they like to share there opinions as well as look for getting married with the same kind of race.Is it good enough being a racist?

I am only racist with black people. I know that will offend many on Mylot, but that is how I was brought up. I live in the south and am surrounded by many family members (including people in my own household). I even have relatives who are half black. I have no problem admitting I'm racist. Now, I am trying my best to leave those views behind me and try to like everyone no matter what color their skin is. It is really hard to do, but I have had success in liking the black people who don't act all stereotypical like you see on TV (you know, the gangster type). I swear that type of person is all you see on the news here. If anyone has any positive advice for me to let go of all that prejudice, I'd be happy to read and try it. Positive black role models are also welcome to be mentioned. I think learning about them and the culture would be a good start to recovery.

Lancingboy.. If you truley want to try to as you said "leave those views behind" a distinction that might be helpfull to you to ponder is this.... Is it a lifestyle that you don't like (i.e. "the gangster type") or is it the skin color?

People all around me is racist based on skin color. I mostly have a problem with the "gangster type". Is that considered racist? I'm not sure it is, but every black person I've ever met personally has acted like that. It's like they like the stereotype or something.

I would have to say that I completely understand where you are coming from in this view point. While I did not grow up in a racist home, nor was it ever encouraged, I moved to Georgia, USA for school and the amount of racism was outstanding! I spoke to a black person in a grocery store and they looked terrified, I was like I'm not going to hurt you? She said oh, ok, white people don't usually talk to us. Their racism is not based on people's personalities or stereotypes, it is completely based on skin color. After being subjected to that for so long the black people there tend to fall into the stereotypes that were set out for them, because that is what everyone expects of them. Getting over racism is a hard thing to do when you are from the south where it is expected of you. I really don't have any tips for it, but I hope you succeed!

Racism is plain wrong.. absolutely not my form of thinking. You base your feeling on people by the persons they are, and not by the color of their skin, the place of birth, or the culture from where they derive. Example: A person can be of my race and come from the same place that I did, and they can still be totall jerks. Race has no definitive effect on who people ultimately choose to be.

Since apartheid stopped in our country, a lot (not all..again..not all) but a lot of non whites now believe that if a white woman does not want a relationship with them..we are still racist! I have tried to explain to them why I CHOOSE NOT to date/marry OUT OF my own race but I would get more response out of a brick wall really. I have many non white friends that know how I feel about mixed relationships and respect MY CHOICE and do not hold it against me..to the rest - well they need to grow up and realize everyone has their own choices and they need to be respected. I personally will not change my spiritual way of life to take on my husbands religion - as most non white males EXPECT their future wives to do.

I had a sociology teacher in college who said..... "I you are stupid enough to be a racist, at least be smart enough not to open your mouth and let everyone else know." And I agree. He also said "Anyone who is willing to be a politician isn't worth voting for." He was a pretty smart man.

I think that people who are racist are just ignorant. They don't take the time to get to know people and base all of that race upon stereotypes. Sometimes people fit those stereotypes and sometimes they don't. Racist people think they are a superior race and all should look to them for advice.

There's nothing good in being a racist. Those racist out there don't have the right to travel outside their country and experience the magnificent creation God. For me they're nothing but a bubble head with a bubble brain. They're empty. I don't know why they think they're the only people who's smart and worthy when in fact they're the one's who's imbecile with filthy butts. Why can't they realize that, though a nation has one culture the people are still different. For all the racists out there, let me tell you this: There are other people from different races that are geniuses, smarter and greater than you are. So don't be self - centered..
