Small dogs or big dogs

Some little dogs are vicious too! You should see my grandmothers poodle. evil little thing. At least I know it can't eat me when I kick it. My dog is huge. I have seen smaller ponies (slight exaggeration)but he is the gentlest dog in the world.

I have both, small & big so i dunno what my preference would be :) My small dogs are kind of older, lazier & would rather sleep than play :) My larger dog is a right nut & she keeps me on my toes! I don't think large dogs in general are dangerous - so you shouldn't always believe everything you read or make assumptions without having tried them for yourself, (apart from being scared of them) which would make it harder to try them) - they're actually not so bad - the bad ones are the ones who haven't been trained (or have been trained in the wrong way) but honestly, train a dog properly & no matter the size you'll have a wonderful, loyal & life long friend. As someone else mentioned, even small dogs can be evil - someone said something about their Grandma's poodle - i have had a similar experience with that breed & it's no even close to a large breed! I think both small & large have their advantages & disadvantages :) So i'll go with BOTH!!!

I'm not really a fan of little dogs....they are just far too yappy for me LOL....both my dogs are I'd say medium sized but some consider them large dogs...

Hi Rowena, to me small dogs always look lovely and cute. I love to carry it and hold it in my arms. As they have very much smaller size so we have to take great of them when we bring them out along. We must be cautious about their safety as they might be stolen easily for their value and uniqueness.

Big ones! I love German Shepherds first and foremost, but like most of the larger breeds. I tend to step on little dogs. :) My husband had three Jack Russells and a Cockapoo though, and I loved them. I don't think there's really any dog that I DON'T like.

Small dogs can be dangerous too. When they bite, they bit just as hard. IMO, little dogs are more ferocious than big dogs. My one grandma always had poodles and I couldn't go around the one because it didn't like more...seriously for no reason. And then she had one poodle that had to be tied up because all it did was growl and show its teeth to everyone so as soon as anyone came to visit she had to put it on a leash and tie it up. My other grandma has only ever had Labs (which is what I have now) and German Shepherds. They were so well behaved. None of them ever bit anyone--they were trained to protect my grandma if someone hurt her but they never bit anyone. They were so lovable. My mom has two chihuahuas. One is afraid of her own shadow and the other is just a puppy and acts like he can take on the world. He has tried to bite the kids when he doesn't get what he wants, he growls up a storm. But at the same time can be so playful. I have a lab and it is the most gentle dog. Especially with our two dogs. It is the dog I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a dog who has children. Our next dog is going to be a golden retriever so I guess you could say I love the big dogs...lol I think with anything it just depends on the personality of the particular dog. They are just like people. Some are happy, some are depressed, some are mean...

It depends. Or maybe I don't have a preference :) I used to think I like big dogs more. I even used to call my mom's small dog " That 1/2 pounder" LOL I started my life with the most wonderful big dog in the world. She was an Irish setter, beautiful, playful and so gentle. Maybe that's why I had this thing about big dogs. Then I had this cute brittany. She was not as big but I loved her. It really made me sad that I had to leave her with my parents when I came here. THen I had a cocker spaniel which was even smaller and I loved him. HE was great with people and the kids. A pity that when we adopted him he was already 7 years old. SO now, I don't really know if I prefer big dogs or small dogs, they're all beautiful :) It helps that dogs - most animals - seem to feel that I mean then no harm. I never had a problem with a dog . They usually seem to trust me even when they trust no one else.

I love them both equally too. I grew up around big dogs like great danes but in this day and age small dogs are much more convenient. I think I would get a small dog if I could have one in my apartment.

I love all sizes of dogs. Some of the gentlest dogs I've known have been big (Golden Retrievers, Black Labrador Retrievers, Great Danes, Vizslas). Big and goofy and lovable. Our last dog was a little dachshund. She was so sweet we called her Sweetie Pie. She was a runaway that we found and took care of (she was covered with ticks and was afraid of men, except me (I'm good with animals)). After about a year or so, she was off again, and has probably found another family to adopt. I want another dog. But I want a fence for the yard first.

I perfer bigger dogs. Depending on the dog they can be cuddley and cute as well. And they are good to help protect you. Mine is very lovable but he protects me when nesessasary.

I like small dogs because they can stay in the house, and i can wrestle with them. I fear wrestling with bigger dogs because if the get to worked up the can hurt you worse, even if accidental.

I love all Dogs but I do prefer to have a little one as I can handle a little one I am not able to handle a big Dog any more so a little one is easier for me and that is what I have a little loving Dog

I love beagles... they are my favorite breed of dog and that would be classified as a medium-sized dog.... I am not in favor of really big dogs and if you like the little dogs then I don't why you don't just get a cat... BUT everyone is different and that is what makes life so fun! Thanks Zelo

What big the dog is? I really like dog like dalmatian (its not big right?), and herder. I like big dogs, because they have muscular body built, more active, and look strong. They are look more healthy!

There are plenty of large dogs which are as soft as putty. We have two golden retrievers who would not hurt a fly. You can let them chew your hands for fun, or play with a toy. They are very obidient and friendly to people , even people they do not know. But i would agree that dogs such as pit bull terriors or boxers are very dangerous dogs.

I like all dogs but as far as ownership is concerned I want a big dog like a great dane, weirmaraner or a dalmatians . Those are my top picks for big dog breeds.
