From where I came from, rice is our staple food. We eat rice practically everyday (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and we eat it with practically everything (fish, meat, veggies, seafood) we even snack on it.
I moved here 8 months ago and I can say I don't eat rice that much, usually every saturday night when my husband and I go for "chinese". I miss it a lot in my regular meal. Since I came here, my staple now is potatoes.
Do you like rice? What kind of rice do you like because I know there are different kinds of rice. I like JASMINE rice. Do you like flavoring or spices in your rice?

I think you can have rice daily too if you could just arrange and prepare a few things when you cook your meals for the family.
Get a porcelain bowl (small soup bowl) and fill slightly less than half with your favorite rice and water (a little above the rice). Steam it up whilst you boil your potatoes or soup - you may need a steam rack for this.

I get some cravings whenever I missed eating rice in a week, I feel sad if I don't. Because back in Philippines, it's a must in every meal. When I got here, I ask my husband to buy rice!! lol It costs us $15 for 25kilos,bought it 3months ago, and now I'll be running out. I just like it plain, husband loves it fried..

I'm wondering why you don't eat rice anymore? Do you cook? Is someone else's preference dictating your meal choices? I like basmatic rice, brown rice, all kinds of rice. I like to use vegetable broth cooking my rice in the rice cooker. I also put cilantro and lime in the rice, especially if I'm using it with beans. Jasmine rice is a taste I can't get used to yet. whit

Yumm-o Whit! Your rice sounds good! I was wondering the same thing, why doesn't she eat rice anymore? It is readily availble. Go out and buy yourself some rice this week instead of potatoes and try the cilantro and lime idea, that sounds wonderful! I also use stock instead of water.

I like rice! Brown rice, jasmine rice, all kinds are good for you. I try to find the kinds that actually have fiber! Try to vary your usage of carbs, like potatoes 3 times a week, rice 3 times, and noodles 3 times a week! Bread can be eaten most days. I try to eat unleavened bread more often as it does not have yeast in it. I also like to use rice flour.

To many people living within the fine continent of Asia, and even to many living in Western countries, rice is indeed the staple food for most of us. I feel quite uneasy going for a single week without eating a meal that contains rice. I personally enjoy eating Fried Rice, a dish popular in Singapore, that contins many delicious ingredients as well

yes I am most fond of rice really I am fond of all starches, lol.
I like long grain rice number 1.... from there I like brown rice the best - but when I eat a white rice I do like the jasmine, it has a nice aroma and flavor.
I also like wild rice, but I guess it is not a true rice... it also has a nice aroma, smells like tea to me.

Hello and hi. Rice is the staple food of the Filipino people. And if you are really from that place, you will truly miss the rice that you are used to eat.
Well, you can adjust and you will be used to eating potatoes. So when you have the chance, bring more rice to where you are!

Yup Im a Filipino. Of course I cook rice here once in a while and I introduced it to my in-laws and they like it. But they are basically potato people so I have to adapt. But I can't say that I am deprived of it. I just miss it. Thanks

Where are you from?? China?? I am live in Guangdong province in China now. we eat rice everyday as well. Rice is our staple food also.there are so many ways to cook the rice. Usually, we only need to put some rice in a rice cooker after washing and add appropriate wate and swtich the power on. then the rice are ready in 15 min. then we make some food. Like fish, meal and some veggies. and we also can make rice soup. It is good for your digestive systems. and we also make fire rice some time. It is very delicious!

I eat rice once a week, always as first course, for example rice with vegetables dry or in broth, generally dressed it with a little salt.

We eat rice several times a week. I use mostly brown rice, but sometimes I'll get jasmine or basmati for a change. Mostly I cook it plain and then add it in to other things or serve it along with something like stir fry. Sometimes I have it for breakfast and add pineapple, dried cherries, almonds and soy milk with it.
