I know when I was in college some of the students thought Delaware was a country. :-) Has anyone been to Delaware or heard of it on here?

I'm here in Delaware. It's kinda boring but this is a nice place. Do you know where I can find typing jobs here just like in Jersey? I'm having a hardtime looking for the job that I really like here though.

I do not know of any place in particular. What type of typing job are you looking for? Are you looking for a data entry job? Many banks have data entry jobs if that is what you are looking for. Or are you looking for a secretary/receptionist type of job? You can also call temp agencies to possibly find a typing job.

I am sorry for the late reply and hope that you have found a job that you like here. There are numerous call center jobs here as I worked for a couple like HSBC and Citigroup.

Delaware map - Delaware map
I live about 10 minutes from the Delaware state line and do most of my shopping in DE because they have no state sales tax. Dover has most establishments a large city would have including a mall, pretty much every restaurant you can name, 2 Wal-marts, and Target. Also is a 1 Mile NASCAR Superspeedway and horse racing complex. There is also a casino adjacent to the track. Besides Dover and Wilmington, Delaware is mostly rural farmlands owned primarily by Amish peoples. Most of the non-Amish farmlands are being quickly sold for housing developments as people from the Baltimore/DC area are moving eastward to escape the city. Delaware also has several nice beaches including Rehoboth Beach. Charter fishing along the east coast of Delaware is a major source of income, as well as agriculture. It's southern and western borders form the most eastern end of the Mason Dixon Line.

Yes, I grew up here on MD's Eastern Shore. I can remember going to Dover for nearly everything because it was much closer than Baltimore, and the traffic is much lighter. Not to mention everything is cheaper because of the no sales tax. I have several relative who live in Delaware, and I met my girlfriend when she was living in Bear. She grew up near Dover.

I have heard of it, and have driven though the state, but that's about it. I like the southwestern part of the USA a lot better.

If you ever come through here again, you will have to look me up and I will show you and your husband around if interested. :-) Many people on the east coast have at least driven through here and some do not even notice. LOL

There is a lot of history here and we have a number of museums here for those that like touring museums and learning about the history here. We also have tons of shops and no sales tax, lots of restaurants, movie theatres, beaches, churches, and banks.

I actually live in Delaware! My husband lived here and so I moved her to be with him at the time (when we were dating). To be completely honest, I'm not a big fan of living here. But I also think it's because I'm from the south so it's a big change for me. Also, I have no family here. To me, it's dirty, people are rude, and the mushroom farms make alot of the counties SMELL. But like I mentioned, I'm from a small town in the south so maybe I'm just not used to it.

It is nice to know there are other people in Delaware in here. It is kind of boring if you are party or nightlife type of person as you have to go out of state. There are rude people all over the country but I do find that the people I have met are rude. Living in a different part of a country can take some getting used to adjusting to a new state or area.

My state was the first state in the US and is located on the east coast next to Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Here is the link with lots of information about my state and its history and sites to be seen here. http://www.delaware.gov/

I have never been to any part of the United States, but naturally I have heard of Delaware. I must confess that my knowledge of Delaware is very limited. It was one of the original 13 states and is therefore represented on your flag as a stripe as well as a star. It also played a major role in the War of Independance when George Washington crossed the Delaware River and won a great victory over my ancestors. Sadly that is about all I know of Delaware.

Wow. That is great that you know all of that. That is more than a lot people know. Delaware is on the east coast, locatd next to NJ, MD and Pennsylvania. We have no sales tax for people that like to shop. :-) It is a nice place to raise a family I think.

I kinda find it hard to believe that someone hasn't heard of Delaware especially since it was the first colony to become a state! Although if a person wasn't native to the US I could understand if they hadn't heard of Delaware...

I was born and raised in Wilmington Delaware. I now live in Florida and run into the same problem of people having no idea what Delaware is. It's the ideal place to raise a family and settle down. Beaches close. Sking close in the winter. No sales tax. The beautiful sceanery in the fall and spring. I love it and want to go back so bad.

I agree that Delaware is the ideal place to raise a family as the atmosphere is great for a family. It is pretty quiet and is not a party state and has tax free shopping, lots of restaurants, schools, parks, movie theatres and other things. We have nice homes here. That is great that you want to come back. I am happy here myself.

I havent been to Delaware. In fact I havent been to USA at all :p The first time I heard about Delaware was from computer games I played "American Conquest". In that game, Delaware is one of the Native American tribe's names. That is all I know. But when I read this discussion, I finally found out that Delaware was also a name of a city. Cheers!

Yes it is the name of a city as well but it is more known as a state and is the first state of the US. It is on the east coast in the mid atlantic region.

I have an uncle that lives in Newark, I've been there several times. We went to Dover, Deleware for a NASCAR race last year. I can't believe that someone could actually make it to college and not know that Deleware was a state.

I am surprised as well that people in college here did not know Delaware was a state. I too actually live in Newark. I am not a Nascar fan so never been to the racing events.

I wanted to move to Delaware a few years ago so I could be closer to someone..but the person moved to my state. I searched the web and learned a lot about Delaware and really liked it. So, I've never been but would still like to visit there.

Delaware is a very nice state to raise a family in. If you like to party then you would probably find it boring. The beaches are nice, no sales tax, lots of shops and restaurants, movie theatres and parks. Another good thing is that it is within driving distance of NY, DC, Baltimore, Philly and NJ so all the major cities are not too far away. It is becoming pretty crowded here though.
