Been on this site for about 4 weeks now and I was really excited getting my blue star with a 10 on it, lol. Do not know why it excites me so much, feel like a big kid at heart. That was my special reward. Now tonight I jump on here and my star has changed colour and gone to a 9. Now I feel sad. Curiosity killed the cat, can't help but wonder what I said so negatively.
How about you, how do you feel when your star has changed higher or lower? I know it does not bother alot of people on here. But being a teacher, I like my stars, lol. OR have you maintained your 10 star the whole time you have been on this site?

lol..I'm a teacher too...and I don't encourage my kids to work for the stars...and similarly, I'm not bothered with them myself. I hardly look at my start till I see a discussion on the star.
I don't think the star system was running when I first joined myLot (more than a year back)....and I wasn't on for another 9 months soon after I joined. It's only 6 months back that I started in full swing...and it took a little more than a month for me to get the blue star.

I am trained for primary and kindergarten...and right now I want to focus on kindergarten...because the timings work out great with my little one who is 15 months now. In a couple of years, I will be moving on to primary.
I don't seem to see anything in your discussions that would warrant a '-'.

Thanks for your comments. I just like positive feedback, lol and the star is one way I know that some people have liked my opinions. What do you teach, primary or secondary?

You have all been talking red and blue stars, but I have been getting red, then brown, then green and now violet. Have you ever got this many colours as stars and I can't understand the line up also. Which is down at the bottom and which is on the top.. Anyone care to tell me?

I cannot remember exactly but I started a discussion once on meanings of coloured stars. I think blue stars were the highest rating star, red were second highest and green third highest. Then of course you have the numbers 10 being the highest ranking. If it is any constellation to you, I think the violet star looks pretty. Have not seen a brown star before. Thanks for your response, hope I have answered some of your queries.

If you've only been on MyLot for 4 weeks, I'd say that you're doing pretty well. I don't take much notice of the star rating of anyone though.

My star is like being on a roller-coaster ride - one day it's red then blue then back again lol.
I'm not really bothered about my star at all. In fact when it got to blue I thought it must be some sort of mistake and sure enough it went back to red again but who cares!

Thanks for your response, did not think people's stars changed that often. I am just mainly curious at what I might have got negative rating for. : ))

I'm not much aware of the grading system in mylot. I see the stars near the user name but i just skip my attention from that. Does those colors mean much here. Does that add any credits to our participation in discussions. Can you share about it.?

Do not think stars add any credits to participation of our discussions. I could be wrong, not too sure.

Has anyone actually seen proof of what the color of the stars mean? I mean, we all can guess and speculate. All I care about is that I have good friends and my discussion responses mean something to somebody. I love MyLot and hope it stays around for a long time. :-)

When I first got my start I started with a yellow 8, the next day I had a red 9 and that's what it's been ever since. I've seen others post about their stars randomly going down then back up though so i wouldn't let it bother you. It will probably go back up before you know it.

Pfft. I've NEVER had a 9 or 10 on mylot.
The minute I hit 100 responses I had an 8 star.
24 hours later I was a 5 star.
24 hours after that a 4 star.
I got back up to 8 somehow near 1000 responses
but soon enough I was sent to 6, then 5, then 4 all in the course of a weekend.
Now I'm a 6 once again and for some odd reason not higher.
Read the FAQs for mylot. Note how it says the star rating denotes QUALITY responses and discussions. Now then, go to my discussions, responses and best responses. Note the BRs especially, theres quality AND quantity. If that doesn't say quality member, then what does? -_- I keep saying the star rating is broken, and even with the recent "question" event, I still say it. *I'M* the proof the star rating is broken, plus a couple other members. Oh and people who did post quality but had 1, 2, 3 and 4 stars, a good number of them have quit responding or quit using the site entirely.
So lets review.
Yours truly has had the lower star ratings for the following.
- Having an opinion and expressing it without fear
- Continuing to express opinions
- Helping other members with their problems
- Having fun times with other members on here
- Giving advice
Isn't that lovely (/sarcasm) -_-
