They don't delete accounts , they only ban them. You will not get banned. I remember reading crash's posts before, he said the only way for a person to get banned is if they did some really bad. They do not like banning members unless its needed to solve a huge conflict. But your not allowed to post referral links in posts, or the discussion will get deleted.

Your response is not quite correct you must post a referral link for authenticity if you are quoting from or using a third party article or if a discussion asks for a reference. You will get a discussion deleted for plagiarism if you use info from another site without giving the link.

I don't think they would delete you if you did it one time by mistake without knowing or realising, but Mylot will delete the discussion. If you continue to post referral links then they may delete your account eventually.

MyLot will not delete your account if you post a link to your website or blog in a discussion. The worse that can happen is that you can have the discussion (or response containing the link) deleted, because posting referral links is forbidden by myLot. However, you are allowed to put banners on your profile page, and invite your friends or other members from myLot to visit your profile page.

Your account will not be deleted, but if you post your referral link to your website or blog you will get that post deleted. If you are writing a post about say, a Horrible Murder! of an entire family and asking their reaction to the murderer getting his sentence reduced , Mylot will allow a link to the news article you are discussing because if you had copied the article about the Horrible Murder! you would be guilty of copyright violations. As for getting your link to your website deleted,or even if some other person decides to be 'helpful' and put a link to her site, it hurts the most if this happens after 100 or more responses. So it is best to be careful.

From what I understand is that on your profile page you can place the links to your websites and blogs but you can't make a discussion to promote it. Also you can put referral links in your profile but you can't put them in discussions. Though I don't think you will get your account taken away rather the post will be deleted.

When I first signed up with Mylot I read every single one of the terms & conditions and all the rules on posting - they actually were encouraging people to post links to blogs and referral links - this is what they wanted. So why are they deleting them when this is what they were encouraging?

You can post a link to your website/blog on your profile page without any problems. BTW promising the Best Response to the first person to respond is not the best way to make friends here on myLot. Especially when you give a best response within a few hours of posting. That is very unfair to user who cannot immediately respond or to the users who give a really good response. It could also get you less responses as many users will not respond to a discussion if the "best response" has already been chosen.

I don't think you will be banned for it, but the post could be deleted. Personally, my approach was to start a discussion about blogging asking if anyone was interested in reading a poetry blog, and then just let them know that the link is on my profile. That discussion hasn't been deleted yet, and I don't seem to be in any trouble. Besides, it was a legitimate question on my part, since I wasn't sure anyone would really care to read a blog with just my poetry on it. Since mylot gives us a place on our profile for a link, I assume they expect us to use it, so I don't think that's a problem. It's just starting discussions spamming your link that's the issue.

some people do post their web-site and get by with it,others get deleted...When you are telling someone on mylot about your web-site it is fine, but you can ask them to send you a personal message if you feel it will be deleted..I thinkl really what gets deleted is if they are refering sites where you can make money....

As everyone said, your account will not be deleted but your post with the link will be deleted. But I have found some discussions here with link that is not deleted. I believe it is on how you deliver your link. But the best way, put your blog or your site link in your profile. Just be careful. and if your post be deleted then dont feel bad.

Yes and it did. You posted a discussion just before this one talking about your blogg and you put your link in the discussion. It came in my email but when I tried to respond to it, it was gone, deleted. Now you know that you can't post a link that will benefit you in any way, as in referrals or your blogg. But you can post your blogg link in your profile page and you can mention that in your discussions. I have my blogg link in my profile page and I do get a lot of hits from members here in mylot, so people do look. I think almost every member here has a website and has it posted on their profile page.
