people abusing food banks

I'm just so angry about this. I work in a bar and just today I had 2 people come into the bar with those grocery carts on wheels. When I asked them what they were doing out on such a cold day this is the response I got. "Oh we were just out trolling the food banks", then the proceeded to buy about 5 rounds of drinks. I'm especially angry because first they had the gall to complain about what the food bank had to offer, and second the one food bank they had gone to I actually held a raffle and raised money for at Christmas time. Where is their pride? How do you brag about making the rounds of food banks, while you are sitting in a bar buying rounds of drinks. Personally, if I had to go to a food bank, I don't think I would advertise it, especially as I spend money on alcohol. If you have money to drink, how dare you take away from someone who really needs it. Is it just me, or do you get angry when you hear about this kind of abuse.

Hearing of that type of thing makes me angry too. I've seen people go to a food bank and then try and sell the food they were given. When asked why they were selling the food, it was because they wanted to go to the bar. I donate to food banks and will keep doing so because there are people who really need the food. I just wish it wasn't abused by some.

I totally agree with you. I think too many people receive handouts when they really don't need them, taking away from the people who genuinely do need them. We have a toy drive in townm and I can't tell you how many people on that list live in huge luxurious houses!
