My favourite singer growing up was Madonna, I would listen to her songs over and over again. Even today, I know alot of the lyrics to her songs and I have got the confidence to sing kareoke to some of the songs. Songs that I really like of hers are:
- Like a Prayer
- La Isla Bonita
- Borderline
- Holiday
- Pappa Don't Preach
So every time I hear these songs play, i have memories of my childhood and adulthood, it is great.
How about you, who did you listen to alot when growing up. My friend loved to listen to Michael Jackson, another popular singer.

As a teenager I was a Bros fan, and they were my whole world! I had a room that was covered in their pictures, I would buy every magazine that had the slightest mention of them in it, I would record anything on tv that I knew they were going to be in. I was first in the queue to buy their records, which incidentally I still have. I had cushions and a denim jacket that I sewed patches of them onto and I had hundreds of badges. Wow I was a big fan!

Mariah Carey was a big one for me growing up. I do't recall all the singers I liked but she definately stands out. Also Whitney Houston and Cyndi Lauper.

Good choice of female artists that you listened too. They are all great singers, Whitney Houston, she has an amazing voice. I still love her song, "I will Always Love you," that song has good memories for me. Have you seen her movie Bodyguard? Mariah Carey another belting voice, my favourite song of hers is, Hero. Thanks for your response. :)

Hi, thanks for your comments. Since you liked punk music, did you also try and dress punk and have punk hairdo?

Another Madonna fan, what was your favourite song of hers? I love Phil Collins too, however funny thing is I only started listening to him when I met my partner a year ago, as he likes him, now I can't get enough of his music. Thanks for your response. :)

I liked Iron Butterfly, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Motown artists, Dire Straits, Steppenwolf, there's too many good bands to count!
I feel like I'm from a different world with the majority of you mentioning bands from the past twenty years. Seems like ages since I was a teen!

Awesome another Madonna fan here on mylot. Yes they are old school people, but Madonna is still pretty popular today, she definately knows how to keep up with the times and change her music style. It must be hard changing your style of music to keep up with the times. Thanks for your response. :)

Well it was Duran Duran and Queen that I love the most. Though I often listen to a lot of music from different artist, but this group have made a great impact on me. We had a band once when I was in high school and we used to play during school affairs and activities. The songs we played were mostly from Duran Duran and Queen and it was such a big hit among our teenagers at that time.
