Where to advertise

I'm looking for some good places to advertise for free.
I know there is probably some banner exchanges somewhere, and autosurfs , but that is not what i want.
I did find some link directories ,article submissions ,and such.
If anyone wants to banner exchange i'm open to that , just add me as a friend , and contact me about it.

bikespot, I have a question to ask.
If I promote your site and when referrals register through my referral link, will I receive a referral sign up notice and the members contact info ?
Or, will I be able to see my referrals contact information in the back office ?

I am wondering the same thing myself. I have tried Craigslist and Kiiji and got bumped off right away. Oh well.
