Dear friends whom do you consider as a better boss - a woman or a man. Have you ever worked with a woman boss? If you did, what were your experiences? I have worked with three women bosses in my career and I found that they were very polite, considerate and thoughtful. I enjoyed working with them.
Please share your experiences with me.
Thanks!

I think male bosses are softer for female employees while female bosses are softer to male employees.. it is a bit natural.........I had three bosses in life and all three where men and very helpful and cooperative. It happened once that my boss had to go on business tour for few months and unfortunately his wife replaced him.......That was the time when the whole office faced a real marshal law...lol....so I prefer men to be my boss.......it is easy to impress them with many female tactics....lol...

Your reply was quite impressive, hence the BR. (I also missed commenting on this discussion, somehow).

In my employment experience, I have worked both with male and female bosses. I have also worked for a couple. For me, the male bosses are a bit more predictable than the female ones. The moods of the female bosses vary from day to day. Except on ocassions when he had special assignments for me, the male boss needed almost exactly the same thing everyday. That was pretty easy for me. I memorized almost every move each boss I had would make. The female boss, on the other hand, was different. I would dread the days she would come in a bad mood... aargh! If I had the choice to hide under my desk, I probably would have done so during those days! However, on the good days, the female boss was really nice, really thoughtful and yes, easy to get along with.

Really! your reply makes an interesting reading. Your conclusion is 'female bosses' are not that good as male bosses are!
Thanks for sharing your experience.

No, my conclusion, based on my experiences, is that most male bosses are more predictable than female bosses. But that doesn't mean that female bosses are not that good as male bosses.

i have had a woman boss, a man boss and a gay boss. all are different in their own ways.
i kinda liked working with a man better than a woman. cause the lady boss i knew have favoritisms. i am not saying all women are like that cause i too am a supervisor and i make sure i dont have any favorites in my team.
i love my gay boss though, he's really kind and considerate and makes our work fun and enjoyable

I've had both female and male bosses and the last boss I had was a female and she was not a nice person to work for. Very bossy, very demanding, never delegated responsibility, micro managed, and rarely complimented anyone in their work. Just as well we left and moved to USA :)

Nowadays the number of career-women is growing steadly in America. They play the role as CEO, directors, managers,head-division, and many more. Researches show that company under female-executives are more stable, more-orgenized. Female-executive is more detail in thinking, or formulating policy. But they also have lackness, they cant think throughfully, they cant take crucial-steps, they have short-sighted so we can't hope her to make long-term decisions.........

Well I think it doesn't make any difference as I know a lot of good and bad bosses in both the sexes. So it is very individual regardless of the gender.I haven't worked under any boss since I am a boss myself. All I can say about myself is that I am a good boss of the company I run and my staff are my family. In the company where I am in charge of the Human resources it is on the profit sharing basis. So the question of boss doesn't arise over there.

As a woman I can more relate with a woman boss than a man...but there are very good men boss as well. Sometimes a man boss is shy to scold you...lol..I had one man boss and he was shy a lot with the women on his team. I had a woman boss and she was ok at first but when time passed she became rude. My boss is now a woman and she's really cool. :)

on a personal level, women bosses are better. but when it comes to work, i prefer male bosses. it's much easier to work with them. they are direct to the point. not too much fancy not like with a female boss.

I have worked with woman and man boss. They are both good in term of handling people and their business. Male boss show more authority than female. But i rather choose female boss because we kinda connect in some aspect, specially after office hours, wherein we had our all girls night out with our female boss.

i think there is no distinction of the two, depending on how you are treated on your boss, i work for 6 years with a man boss, of course i am a man so we can understand each other but i think woman boss is also great because i can take good care of here. LOL. depending on the situation sometimes it's matter only if your boss is not fair...but mos of my friends having man and a woman boss agree that there are no difference among the two.

Normally it is seen that women can be better heads in the human resource dept compared to men. I personally feel that people listen more patiently to women and are willing to cooperate when they are needed to do so. On the whole it all depends how the leader has developed the culture in the organisation.

I have worked for both and must say that If I respected their work ethics and their ability it didn't make any difference as to their gender. I have worked briefly for terrible bosses who hadn't a clue what they were doing and expected you to carry the load, and I worked for excellent bosses, for several years, who knew what they were doing and expected you to learn and do the same.
So for me gender was never an issue

I've worked with both.
For me, a good boss is one that is professional and respectful, fair to his employees, open minded enough to listen and a good leader.
Gender does not really make a difference in my opinion.
Regardless of gender some people have what it takes to be an excellent boss, some don't.

I work for a woman boss and I am a woman boss myself.I like my boss as you said she is polite, considerate and thoughtful as I try to be I have 8 employee's that work under me and have had 3 of them for 10yrs or more,I buy birthday presents, christmas presents for each one and baby gifts because most of us are grandmothers their problems or my problems as well and I have always told them no matter what family comes first so There has been plenty of days I have done their job so they could do family things so the answer to your question I believe it would be women because they are more caring. I have never had a man boss that buys presents for all employees that is a woman thing.Have a great day!

I am a woman and I found that working for women a whole lot better than men. I enjoyed working with women better because I find them to be more understanding and easier to talk to pleasant and helpful. Whereas the men that I ever worked for were dismissive, never wanted to listen to my opinion and had no patience with any issues I had.

Personally i think that men are better, although they seem to get stressed very easy, where as woman are much more laid back when problems arise. But i supose they are both as good, it depened on the actual person =]
