I eat mine with butter on the outside of bread. I just eat the sandwich by itself and not with anything else.

I like to put the butter on the out side of my grilled cheese sandwich. They are good with tomato or potato soup. I usually use American cheese in them. I also like to make them with pepper jack cheese. Velveeta extra thick slices is really good too. After reading some of the other posters I think I will try the mayo and try browning them at least once.

I butter my bread on the outside too. I like to use either american, provolone or mozzarella cheese in my sandwiches. I love to eat grilled cheese with chicken noodle soup.

I put butter on the outside of the bread, too. Oh, and I have to have it with tomato soup! Yum! I don't usually put veggies or meat on it, but I have tried it with different cheeses.

I use the cheese "Toma" (Italian cheese) and I cook it a few minutes, without add seasonings, I like eating so!

Years ago, I'd go to a local diner with my friend once a week and we'd always get grilled cheese and fries.
Growing up, my mom would make us grilled cheese and tomato soup.
When I was pregnant, for about 3 weeks all that tasted good to me was grilled cheese sandwiches. I've never really liked mayo or miracle whip but I do love veggies, so slices of tomato sounds good.

Miracle whip makes the filling creamier and softer. If you use too much, the cheese drips out of the sandwich as you eat it. Tomato soup is nearly a requirement for a good Grilled Cheese experience.
Once, I made a grilled french toast cheese sandwich. I thought it was a fairly good idea.

I like it with butter on the outside of the bread and then I dip them in applesauce. I don't like tomato soup so I would not dunk it in there. I don't like tomatos either so will stay away from it that way.
I have never heard of using miracle whiop before.
