How much time do you need for yourself?

I like time to myself. I think we all do. And I think its important. When I was married and after my ex-husband and my oldest son would go to bed, I relished the time alone in the evening hours. I have made it a habit ever since. In fact, I get kind of mad if anyone infringes on those hours. Thats my time to relax after everything else is done for the day. Do you have a special time of day that you call your own or a certain length of time that you put aside, just for you?

When my kids take their siesta, that's my time. It's the house being all quiet that makes it relaxing for me. When they have been put to bed at night and all the chores have been done, that's another "me" time. I like the "me" time in the evening as it's much longer and more peaceful and I could go about with my internet surfing, etc. with less chances of being disturbed.
Yes, I do think that having time for yourself is important because it gives you time to put make yourself a priority this time around.

Thats the time I like the best too. The evening, because like you said the chances of people getting up is less, so you don't have to stop what you are doing, instead you can put it down in your own time.

Most of the time I have during the day is for myself, it's quality time on the computer or going out for long walks on my own. I am a very solitary person, I am not made for relationships as I found out to my cost. I need my own space, and preferably a big wide open space! I much rather live alone, but currenly circumstances don't allow me to be able to have my own place. But I am given my privacy and independence which I crave for. I hate being tied to a relationship and having to compromise to please my partner, I am too selfish to share my time with anyone.

Maybe sometime in the future you will have a place of your own with plenty of space. In the meantime, it sounds like you at least are happy in that you don't have the demands of a relationship.

I think everybody needs some time to be alone. This will give you time to reflect about life and see yourself just the way you are. Sometimes we are so busy and we forget what we want to do to ourselves like caring for ourselves since we tend to care for our family all the time. I usually spend time alone when my wife and child are asleep already and usually I just watch a movie in the living room or perhaps enjoy a cup of coffee outside.

You are right, we all need time to reflect, organize our thoughts and just breathe deeply.

I love my family and having them about. But there comes a time when all that I crave is solitude. Now, as you know, I am at home during the week, so I have a lot of time to myself then. But even at weekends I like to have the odd hour or so. My wife goes to church on Sunday morning so I usually get an hour or so then, she likes to walk home through town window shopping so I have quite a long spell alone. I also stay up too late at weekends on this site! 2am when I went to bed this moring. It's 11 now and I've been up since 8. I am exhausted and I think that a little snooze will be called for later. I also have a thing at the moment about watching a BBC adaptation of "Larkrise to Candleford" which is the story of a Victorian girl's adventures working in the post office of her local town. Except it is not entirely true to the book, and is getting a bit silly at the moment. (www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer of you want to have a peek). The girls don't watch it, so I am alone again. What does that say about me being in touch with my feminine side. LOL. I don't think that I do badly.

I think time alone is absolutely benefical to our mental well being. Just having some quiet time without someone demanding something from us or chattering in our ear is what needs to happen at least once a day.

Every night I usually allocate a time for myself, to think of what has happened in the whole day..To ensure that there are lessons learned and struggles had been overcome or if not to wonder what the future would be. We are the one's that owe our own selves a love, thus having even a single minute would mean a lot..A time to recollect, a time to reflect and a time to plan.

I'm the early bird. It's been that way since I was quite young. I really appreciate the quiet and peacefulness of the mornings, when I'm the only one up, and the only sounds are the birds. I can think very clearly in the mornings too, it's my most productive time. I don't know how to calculate how much time I set aside for myself, I don't think I'd count the time I spend doing my homework or other things I have to get done that just happen to be done alone. I'd say a couple hours a day max during the week, and quite bit on Sunday afternoons. I'm not all that picky on a day to day basis about my alone time, but if I end up not having any for over a week, then I'm really not happy and start looking for excuses.

I used to do that to. After my husband and son were asleep I would sneak off into the living room to relax and read for awhile all alone and relaxing time just for myself after all chores were done then sneak back and go to bed. I always slept so much better for having my time just for me. Husband asleepand kids asleep.

I always wished I lived in a warm climate with a yard and a chair that I could enjoy the morning air. Well I live in a warm climate, but I don't have the yard or the chair.

I think it's very important to have alone time. It is that time in which we relax, read or just do anything we want to. My favorite time alone is first thing in the morning, maybe 4 or 5am before everyone else gets up.

I always take time for myself. Quiet time when nobody is around and I can play soft music and meditate.
I don't know how much time I need for myself, but probably at least one hour per day.
I am lucky to work on my schedule, so I can take time for myself when I feel I need to relax any time during the day.

I have just in the evening like you do. After all the days work, I deserve a pat on myself and just do things I would love to do.
I watch a favorite movie, read good life stories, or browse at the internet and read more plus do some mylotting. Lol.
At times, I get angry if someone gets on the way. Well, I take only few minutes for myself, I have to savor it.

Apparently I need very little to no time alone. Because that is how much I get! Today is the first day in I can't remember how long that I have found myself utterly and completely alone! This is because I didn't get dressed and I pretty much refused to go this time. It is really nice. I have the house in complete silence...just the way I like it!
Whenever my husband and daughter are here, they have the tv blasting. That can get really annoying sometimes.
Right now it is just me, my laptop and peace and quiet!

I enjoy being alone too and it is usually at night time, so I always get a little pissed when mom always come in to my room and talk with me at 10 pm. I dont understand why she can not said it earlier or so. I so want to yell at them for disturbing me at these times XD But I never did, I just did not talk in a good manner ^^,
