During a hot summer day, could you sleep without air condition in your room?

Oh my! I definitely can't, specially in our country and the city side I've been living. There's almost no wind here. I really have a very hard time sleeping when there's a sudden blackout/brownout at night, no electricity means no air condition haha...

When I grew up we did not have air conditioning and it was hot a very few days but the nights were cool as we lived by the lake erie ..but when I was in Texas for the militray it was hot and we did not have air conditioning but i survived Florida is hot too and humid but it was ok too and so is California. Washington DC is very hot during the summer and the heat is tolerable.. The worst heat I experience is in the Philippines in Manila and Negros Occidental Bacolod City viting my wifes family. This I could not stand without a/c and my wife is the same way now as she has been with me for over 22 years. I have seen brown outs here too but not like in the Philippines. The worst time this could happen is the winter time in Michigan and that is pretty bad but people survive because the power usually is on in a day or so.. Yes, sleeping in the tropics is most difficult without a/c but most of the Filipinos are not given much option unless they have the means. Thanks for the post.

I don't own an air conditioner. It gets very hot here in Kelowna, British Columbia in the summer months. We had an air conditioner at work and it just spoiled me. If you don't have one I think you just get accustom to the heat. But if you are in and out of air conditioning it makes it hotter when you have to go outside.

When I was a young girl we never had air conditioning, how ever now I do have it in my bedroom where I sleep, but in the rest of the house I do not. It is very exspensive to run the one in my room, to do the whole house would cost a fortune.

Yes, I agree with you... running an air condition would really rack up your electricity bill up high. That's why what my family did is just that even if we have a lot of rooms in our house, all five of us sleep in just one room! Haha... but that room is a bit big though to fit the five of us.

We have to as it's highly unusual for a house in the U.K. to be built with air conditioning. Although I'm sure it doesn't get as hot here as where you are. Some summers we really suffer though. We bought a big electric fan and sometimes sleep with damp cloths on our bodies.

When I was growing up we did not have air conditioning. I would sleep with the window open and a fan on me. Having had air conditioning for the last several years, I can't imagine having to sleep without it.

Haha, got yourself spoiled. I can live without air condition if it's a cold country like Canada though... but if it's hot... drat! I just can't take it... haha

i'm the person who is totally opposite to you. i've never slept with air condition. to be frank, i don't like this cool machine. it seems unbelievable for you, but it's true. i often feel cold but seldom feel hot. i recall one night when i was in university, the weather was so hot that all of my dormmates felt it impossible to sleep as we had no air-condition. to their surprise, i have already went to my dream with a thin blanket covered on me. i feel uncomfortable when enter a public place where has air-condition set up. i think it has something to do with my constitution.

i can sleep properly even without an air-conditioner and electric fan. i used to sleep in hot places, the only thing that i can't sleep without is a pillow whom i can hug.

I can often sleep at night in the summer, even when it has been warm, because for some reason it tends to stay cool in my apartment even at night. I do have it on when I need to, but it surprises me when I don't need to turn it on when it is so warm outside and it only takes having one or 2 windows open.

I have but not too comfortably. i have a ceiling fan in my bedroom so that helps somewhat, but I do not like to have the ac off in the summer. Spring and fall are alright but not summer. It gets vey humid here. I need it.
