Is it me or does anyone else find the sound of churchbells really annoying?

I heard the church bells the other day and I was wondering if it was normal that I thought it was a really horrible sound! It also got me wondering if there are certain noises people don't like which are supposed to be relaxing, for example, if you don't like the sound of chirping birds or anything like that?

I like the sound of church bells but I don't live really close to any. If they were loud enough to wake my son from his nap, I'd find them very annoying.
A lot of those nature sounds that are supposed to help you sleep are kind of annoying to me...the incessant bird chirping and squawking and loud ocean sounds keep me up instead of soothe me.

Some nature sounds annoy me too. I like watery sounds but even that can get annoying if it's constant!

I think the sound that bothers me the most is church bells. I don't live far from one of the churches here in town and every time the bells sound it annoys me. Not many other sounds bother me to much unless I hear it over and over and over again. After it gets drilled into my skull there are a few others that bother me but it's mostly kids' toys that other people have bought for them.

I can definitely empathise with you about the kids toys!
I think living near church bells where either no one within the church would know a tune if it hit them or there are lots of practices going on does make the sound rather grating, especially when trying to have a peaceful walk!

I live very near to a church and the bells when rung properly sound fine (except at 9:00 in the morning!) I do find them annoying when there's bell ringing practice though, that sounds awful.

I hate the sound of church bells but I love birdsong. I hate people whistling though.

Aaaaaaah the bells, the bells, Esmerelda!!! Nope can't stand churchbells, mind you can't stand churches either, always give me the heebie jeebies. That clanging noise, thankfully our church is out of harms' way and my ears are GBH free. I love birds singing providing they don't wake me up. Some birds have no respect of people sleeping in.

I don't think it is horrible. I lived at an apartment and on the upper floor the people living there would make weird noises that made me sick.

I love teh sound of authentic and traditional Church Bells - playing the Angelus morning - noon- and night. However, I have heard some fo these modern "bells" that are more like electronic chimes which I do not like at all. I think they cheapen and sully the whole process.
I can not hardly tolerate the sound of mating cicadae (sp) or catydids whatever those 17 year locusts are called. they make the woods around my house rattle and are so loud!
