I belong to many sites, ptc, paid email, social networking etc, but I get bored very easily. I might start them and then after awhile forget that they even exist. I've belonged to several social networking sites, but they don't seem as personal as mylot. Instead of really talking with one another, you just post graphic comments back and forth and you aren't really getting to know one another. What is the longest you have belonged to any one site and what keeps you there?

Same here. I join a site, get all excited about it, but quickly get bored and move on. This site though always provides something new and interesting.

Well sweety i have been here over a year and it was the first site I was really a member of and is still the main one I use! I find it hard to imagine being without mylot at all. it has become a real community and a great place to meet and chat - heck you even get some great debates!" xxx

You've done a lot of work to have only belonged to this site for one year. You are definitely a dedicated member.

I have belonged to a couple of mailing lists on Yahoogroups, since 1998, when I first came on line. I joined them, and made a lot of great friends on those sites, and I hae stayed with them to this day, and I will continue to stay with them foreve.

Since 1998, that is quite a long time. I can't brag the same of any site.

I am a member of Yahoo and eBay since 1999.
I made quite a bit of money on eBay and still do when I get in the mood.
I use Yahoo everyday for my news and to talk to my sister on the other side of the world via Yahoo Messenger.

I've never had any experience with ebay except when someone was trying to get ahold of my personal information by telling me that they needed my credit card number. I got ahold of their customer service straight away, because I don't even have an account with them and they were all over it. I was truly impressed.

I have been with MySpace for a couple of years now, but as you said it isn't personal enough. I am also with Facebook and have gotten to know a couple of people. They are also with MyLot. I love MyLot. I have been here just over a year now. I have gotten to know quite a few people here. I am also a member of a support group. Yahoo Groups
MS Friends. I have been with them since the beginning of 1999. So, if it counts that one is the longest. The Multiple Sclerosis support keeps me there.

I'm really glad that you can find the support you need for your MS. I imagine it would be a difficult diagnosis to live with.

Hi Myriam,
I think the longest site I have been a member of is on yahoo, since I start learning how to use internet, yahoo has become my favorite place, and until I am still using it. Then Friendster, a socializing site, you are not paid in that site but Friendster is one of my way to get in touch with friends and relatives as most of the members there are my countrymen. Then mylot, I've been a member for about 2 months here and I like it here, I enjoy my time being here.
Actually, I have old membership here in mylot which was canceled due to inactivity, the inactivity was not my own well, but it is because I am unable to open the site, and when I get home, we don't have computer yet at that time I seldom go to cafe, so after sometime came I forgot the exact url of the site. I was really frustrated about it, but did an effort to find it again. Last January, I was blessed to have met again the site and now I am back again being a newbie.

The longest has to be a competition site that I joined back in 2002, I was always entering competitions and this site gave you daily competitions and where to find them, it was or should I say is a little community and I have got friends there now, we swop stories and it's based in the UK. We share our wins to give others inspiration, run our own competitions, I have run quite a few myself. If you have any rants, raves, or want to post to tell people what you are doing or need advice you can do it, it's a wonderful forum and although I don't do competitions no more I still use the site to contact my friends.

I am one of those guys that hangs in there on low payment sites, if the sites are a bit nice. I've been a member of myLot and two other sites for about a year and 4 months now.
I've also joined a few other since that seem to be worth it.

I probably have a half dozen or more sites that I have signed up for and worked for about six months and they board me as well.
I have been a member of quickrewards.com for about seven or so years. I signed up when they first opened. This site is about earning points. They also give you a percentage back from certain stores that you make online purchases from. This site started out where you only made about a penny a day. Now they have grown and the site is interesting now. I am a loyal member and will stay that way.
I am also a member of memolink. This site has been around for seven or better years. This site has gone up and down as far as being a good site to work and make a good profit. The site at this time to me is a waste but I have been a member for so long I hate to leave. I only visit once a day to do the lotto game. If I get points fine if now that is ok too.
Ther is another site called Freeride.com that I am a member of that has been around for almost ten years. This site came out at gang busters and I made a lot of money on this site. They only gave you gift cards but still it was great. They went down for a little while but came back. They are to this day doing quite well. They do not give a way as much as the used to but everything changes.
I am a member of a lot of survey sites but since I very seldom quilify for a survey on the site I do not visit the site.
I think that when you find a site that you like you will stick with it through the ups and downs. I have about ten sites that I do at least five days a week. I am sure there are other sites that I am still a memeber of from ten or more years ago but like so many when the site stops paying out or stops being fun I do not visit it any more.

Thanks for taking the time to give me such a well thought out answer. I can see where your loyalties might stay with a site that you purchase from online. Particularly since I can well imagine that there would be some sites that would be a little less than trustworthy. I don't purchase online, so for me its never been an issue, but if I ever decided to, I'm sure I would be very choosy.

I think you and I have been on here just about the same length of time. I actually joined about 9 months ago, but I left for awhile having had posted next to nothing and then came back with a vengeance. I love it. Its the best social networking site I've seen to date.

I would have to say I've been a member of pogo.com the longest I joined shortly after I first got internet access at my home and have stayed a loyal member of the site ever since( about 6 years now). I love the games and have met a lot of really great people many of whom I've known for years and even met a few in person. Including the love of my life!! He moved here after we met on the site and we have lived together for almost 3 years now and are expecting a baby in July.

That is so cool. What a great success story. I met my boyfriend on the internet too. We talked for three months before we ever met. We live together now, but no plans for a baby, we are both too old for all of that.

I have joined many of these sites but I think this is the best one I have been on so far, its easy to navigate and understand and very easy to use. I find it very interesting and I have not yet become bored of this one which is a good thing for me, as I do lose interest quickly.

This site is so much more personal than the other sites. People on the other sites, just don't take the time to find out who you really are. They are more interested in the monetary aspect than getting to know someone.

The longest site ive been on I would have to say is myspace. Ive been a member there for almost 3 years now. I love myspace. I keep in contact with all my friends and family, be able to post pics to keep them all updated etc. Plus you have the chance to find other people you have lost contact with. I have regained about 10 friendships from there. Some of which were from gradeschool.

I've been with iWon since it was in Beta testing. I was also one of the first to belong to AOL (and before, when it was called QuantumLink), but we finally logged off for the last time a few years ago. The AOL chat rooms were a lot of fun, and I made a lot of friends there, but the cost kept going up, while the quality of service kept declining.

My longest is 16 years. It's a chat and bulletin board place that I signed up for during college. I stay there because of my friends. There are quite a few other forums I'm on that I've been a member of for 10+ years too. I'm not always active in all of them, but depending on what I'm working on at the time, I might show up on the sites.

I was a member of an offshoot of a band's message board for about three years. But as the original community was replaced with newcomers, the atmosphere changed and I felt it was time to leave.

Oh, I'm registered to a lot of sites. Usually, after three or four months I get bored and I stop using them. Some months later, I remember them and I restart staying on them. The only sites I never left are Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Ciao.com. Also on MyLot I get bored and it's possible that you won't see me here for months :)

I'm surprised that you might be bored with mylot. I can't seem to get enough of it and that is very unusual for me.
