my computer is very very slow than the snail and most of the time it can't display the web page i try to open. when i write something like mail or post a discussions and try to send or post the response it gets lost and this web page you reqsted can't be displayed comes on.
yesterday, i responded to about 10 discussions but none of them was able to be posted. it takes about 10 or more minutes to open a page. i really got sunk down when i started the discussions.
i saw a mail that said i should download a software that can help my computer to be as fast as when i bought it new. i was afraid of virus that'll further worsen the case. what should i do?
Anyone is most cordially wecome to help me in anyway.
thanks in advance to any samaritan.

Hello dear fredgame. I am so sorry that your computer is as slow as a snail. I have to say that it was the same with mine from two days ago till just an hour ago. My laptop was infected with some viruses like 'motou', which is new to me. This virus was invading my laptop making it hard to open windows. I felt so bad for it and took it to my computer guy in the computer shop for help to get it reinstalled. Now it is working normally as usual, but I am still a little worried about the intruding of the virus again. I have to be very careful with the use of my laptop. Usually the only way that I get this kind of problem fixed is to get it reinstalled. But I do not suggest that you do it because yours is a new one and the windows xp is in the original, which is always better than a copied one. Take care of your computer and I hope that it will be fixed soon. Good luck.

In fact to be frank with you, my friend who knows more about computers bought it for me. he never told me the software was a copy one until i updated mediaplayer and was asked of the licence it then dawn on me it seems not original windows and when i asked him he confessed that it's a copy. i was a bit sullen with him but for some reasons. he has done so much for me previously so i just said let bygone be bygones.

i would say for you to clean the internet via the internet options .
in my case i have super anti spyware defender, which gets rid of spyware .
then there is privacy controls, which gets rid of things cluttering the computer drive.
then after that i also use reg clean, which deals with any errors i have.
it has helped me.

I would also suggest deleting your cookies, cleaning out your diskspace, defragmenting etc. I know mine runs slow sometimes and then I do that and it works better. Also try deleting stuff you dont need pictures etc. That takes up memory and slows it down also.

Desk top : Pl have the least icons on the Desktop.
Emails : You may delete unwanted/read/least imp emails having attachments. You should delete even the 'delete folders too
2) Sent items : You may retain only the important mails sent. Rest .. you can put them to rest for ever.
3) Inbox mails : You may please start creating sub folders, subjectwise etc and shift there. Here also you should be selective in retention. All the best

Ran a scan on your computer to check for virus/spyware infection.A good antispyware scanner is Superantispyware, you can download it for free at filehippo.com

From what you said, it sounds more your connection than computer that is causing the problem.
Are you on wireless internet access?
If so, try to use the LAN wire. That should solve the problem.
Otherwise, tough luck...

It sounds that your computer was already infected with a spyware or other unwanted applications.
Try to check your task manager by pressing Alt + Ctrl + Delete for you to verify and see if there are suspicious applications running in the background, which in some case may eat a lot of memory, thus slowing the speed performance of your machine.
If you would mind, I can suggest you to download a trial version of Eset Nod32. Before installing this software, be sure to uninstall your current antivirus software to avoid conflicts.
Please do update this software and run an in-depth scan of your machine. It scans your machine both spywares, viruses, and other malwares so no need to install antispyware.
I may also suggest that you use mozilla or opera as your main browser. These two browsers are very safe to use when compared to IE.
I hope your machine will get better soon. :-)

If its a weird looking email, you SHOULDN'T open it and DO NOT INSTALL what is inside. Uh, you may want to run an antivirus scan (use AVG 7.5 for free), and an anti-spyware scan (AdAware and/or Spyware Terminator). If the scans turn up nothing, restart your computer and put it in safemode. Run the scans from there.
Other things hardware wise you could try. First back up your information, documents, music, important things: back that up to CDs/DVDs and an External Harddrive. Try defragmenting your harddrive which can be found under Accessories=]System Tools. Also, if your harddrive is more than two-thirds used space, you may consider putting other data on CDs/DVDs or an external harddrive, so your computer isn't bogged down with so much material. If your RAM memory is old you may consider replacing that too for your computer.
Conduct wise. If you use Mozilla Firefox or Opera, keep those programs up to date. Also do not have too many windows and/or tabs up. Each one can slow down a computer particularly older and less powerful computers. Be sure other items you aren't using aren't up either, so your computer has less to manage.

You said your computer is slow, but I am not sure wether it's slow in overall or just the internet connection. Because if the overall performance is not up to speed, then it's most probably due to insufficient memory issue. You might need to add more RAM to it. Or your hardisk is running out of space. MS windows needs at about 500MB disk space for temporary memory storage in order to speed up the processing time. Besides this, the slow performance could be due to virus infection which had choked your computer processing power. You can try tweaking the system setting like turning off the visual effect, running disk defragmentation, unintall unnessary programs or residual service. It will helps. But if you are referring to internet speed is slow, then I would suggest to check with your ISP specifications. You might need to upgrade the connection by subscribing to better package. The modem and internet connection setting seldom be the cause of slow internet connection, but worth trying if you feel that the speed is untolerable.

I wonder whether you use Firefox as the browser to load Mylot. I found in these few days it seems to load Mylot very slowly. And IE doesn't have this problem. Besides, you have to make sure whether your computer has virus. Sometimes having virus will slow down the computer. And you can try to recover the system if you use Windows XP to see whether this problem will be solved.

I had some problems with my work computer that was taking forever to open programs and send. And shut down time took about 30 min. I went to McAfee and down loaded a tril program and it cleared up the complete problem it found all kinds of problems in my work computer. I work as a graphic designer and totally dempent on my computer. My boss had downloaded some spyware and other crap that was not working. I removed it all and downloaded the McAfee protection and it got my computer working like it should. The spyware and popup blockers did not stop any of that. McAfee has a free 30 day tril that when it is up you can it will let you know so you can get it purchased if it is working for you. I would highly recomend doing that.

Ohh, my dear friend, may be your computer infected with the virus, which keeps your system busy. And btw, do you use any Antivirus software, if yes then kindly update it and then scan your whole computer, maybe this will resolve your problem.
And for web based, try using Opera or Mozilla Web Browser.
keep posting!!!
