I take my dogs to the local leash free dog park every day, and today was nasty. There was a little thaw yesterday, and the amount of dog poo was disgusting. There are signs every where and bags provided to pick up your dog's poop. I contend that people like that shouldn't even own dogs if they can't do a little thing like pick up their dogs poop. It's part of the job of being a responsible pet owner. I've even been there, and pointed out to people that their dog has left them a "present", and they still don't pick it up. What would you say to those people next? Drives me crazy!!

I know I totally agree with you, there are some lazy dirty people about, I dont have a dog and so dont go to the park but just recently I have started walking my daughter down to school, she is only 2. Of course she wants to walk on every bit of grass and verge and I tell you what I have never seen so much dog muck in my life its getting really bad. I cant let her walk on the grass she would be covered. Its even on the pavements on the way to school, me and my friend commented on it the other day, we are even thinking about complaining its that bad at times. Yes it drives me crazy too!

I am thinking it has to do with being outside, and not the pet owners property. I live in an apartment complex and we have a dog walking area, all pet owners do Carry bags and clean up except one person. She walks her dog in front of others apartments and if her dog leaves a gift , she leaves it. I think that is it rude and insensitive of her to neglect other feelings, that is just her. We have made notes and stuck them to her door, the property manager left notes saying fines will be imposed, she just does not care. As I look at it, KARMA does work. going to suck to be her in time.

For the same reason that people throw litter on the ground, not their problem! People don't take responsibility do they? They just don't care, it's a do I care attitude that people have, that bugs the life out of people who do take the time to pick up after their pets. We have fines in the UK for not picking up your dogs doings, but implementing it is very hard to do, unless someone is around to catch the owners they will continue to do it. It is disgusting I strongly agree but they get away with it and until they are made to pay they will continue to do so.

It's a shame that people can't be responsible and respectful of other people's rights. I am lucky to have a large dog for ours to run and relieve himself but just this morning I was out with the grandkids (cold but they needed some fresh air and excersice) and noticed I have a mess in the yard to clean up soon.
I don't know what you could say to these people but it seems if they have it posted there should be someone to 'police' the park and deal with the offenders.

We have the same problem around our apartment complex and notices are up on the boards in the foyers about it too but it doesn't really change anything. It really isn't that hard to pick up your own dogs poop - Its sad when others don't think of those who live around them too.

In my area there are a lot many dog owners who dont care for the dirt their dogs leave behind. There are even some who are too disgusting to let their dogs loose, leave aside what their pet does next.I have pointed out to some but to no avail.Infact i believe such owners should not be allowed to own pets. They risk others safety and cause such litter.

I agree with you. Those kinds of people do not deserve to have dogs. and they spoil things for the honest decent people who do have ogs. There is nothing worse than a bunch of poop all over the place.

I take my dogs to dogs beach sometimes. I have to say that dogs owners are very responsible over there. Everyone is cleaning after their dogs.
Also, city is cleaning that part every night too.

I think it would be even worse at the beach. It's a place where you often go barefoot. I can't imagine stepping in dog poop with bare feet. Yuck.

I am sure that one could also report them to local officials and they would be fined possibly. I hate taking Buster for a walk with a baggie for poop cleanu up but I do it none the less. I hate seeing poop all over as well. I'd have handed them a bag pointing out where there dogs little present was left for them to dispose of correctly. Then if they refused to clean it up Id make note of the type of dog etc and report them somehow.

OOOOH! I am waging this battle right now. We live in an apartment complex with a dog area and nice grassy areas elsewhere. Dog presents all over the place. It makes me mad because there are kids that play around here and I walk my dog through the areas as well - sure takes the fun out of it. I was back in the dog area for the first time in a month and it was a mine field let me tell you. We have bag dispensers and I got a bunch of them and went to work. When I had filled up 20, yes 20 bags, I quit counting. Got the area cleaned up and now will begin watching who and where if I can. Called the management and they said if I see who is actually doing it, to call them and they'll leave warnings on the doors. I'm continuing to pick up wherever I see anything - the maintenance guys do it but not often. Not my happiest solution, but until I see the perpetrators and can let them know they should be picking up, I'll continue. whit

Good for you! I'm glad to see that there is someone actually trying to do something about it in their little part of the world.

In Monroe Michigan they passed a "pooper scooper" law that would get a person a $50.00 fine if anyone's dog poots in the park area or on or near a sidewalk or in anyones yard..but it still goes on..I seen in Brooklyn NY they had a $500.00 and the dog poop was the worst I had seen..it was in front of my wife's cousin apartment and the only yard they have is a little space between the sidewalk and the street and it was wall to wall dog poop..so even in the area's parks..their was a lot of poop...
You can only glare at the people but the thing that gets me is that I have a toy shih tzu..toy dog.that is ..but he is not much bigger then a big cat and I keep this little guy (reggie_) on a leash when he is outside..as I lost a shih tzu named Gizmo as he ran out in the street and was run over..the shih tzu in Chinese is LION so that is how they act..no fear.
what gets me is more then once in the park and public people let the big dogs off the leash and they wonder why I scream at them as they are attacking my 12 or 14 pound dog ..who is on a leash.?? Lady YOU have to leash your animal while in public."but they don't and if they don't do that do you think they will pick up the filth? or the POOP? no ..cops are never around when you need them..but they cruise the parkes and looking for a dough nut shop (lol) but they only have eyes for speeders going five miles over the speed zone or getting a ticket for going through a yellow light.i got both last year..cost me 115 and 125 $$..but littering is rampant..and they cut the grass in the park and just run over the litter and dog poop..yuck..But I did not think they did this in Canada as Canada was always so clean compared to this side of the river? well..i guess we are all going to the dogs..;(

I must say that the littering is not bad, and the poop isn't too bad outside of the leash free area. But, it's still a nuisance when you've walking around.

Some of my neighbors are really disgusting. They own more than 2 dogs and would let them loose in the mornings or afternoons to relieve themselves. The owners would not clean up after them. I agree that people like that shouldn't be allowed to have dogs, or any kind of pets!

That would drive me crazy also. It's not like it's that hard to pick up their dogs poo. I would just tell them that they should pick up their dog's poo, that is what the baggies and signs are for. I would of course try do say it in the nicest way possible. Which might be easy or very difficult depending on what kind of person that you're talking to.

I try to be diplomatic, but there are some people that frankly just scare me, so, I don't say anything.

You are exactly right. There are a lot of people I have come in contact with that I probably wouldn't want to say anything to either. I just think people would want to be courteous about picking up their dog's poo, but I guess not.

I hate that! I commend you for saying something to those people! I am not brave enough.
There is a couple in my subdivision who has 4 weener dogs and they don't ever clean up after their poop. It ticks me off.
I would probably just walk away making sighing noises like I was pissed to see that happen. I might make a quiet remark to myself about there being a leash law and a cleanliness law. If there is a cleanliness law in your area. I think that it is a fineable offense where there are signs posted. So, I might point to the sign and say, you are breaking a rule. But, I am non-confrontational and I don't like to tick people off who might hit me!

I don't like confrontation either, but, I pretend that they just didn't see it. So, I say, something like , "oh, I guess you didn't see, but your dog left you a present". The problem is when after that they don't pick up. I will sometimes pick it up myself just because I don't want my own dogs running through it, or me stepping in it. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the people who don't pick up will post here.

You are really much braver than I am. I talk a good game but, all I would really do is grumble to myself about it! LOL! And, you are a better person than I am because I would not likely pick someone else's poop up. I probably couldn't anyway since, by the time I would have stumbled on it, my dog probably lit a huge pile and I already used my bag for his huge pile. And, as much as I would like to be a good person, I am not about to pick up dog leftovers with my bare hands.
You are right! I doubt that anyone who is in the habit of just leaving their dog poo on the ground will probably not have anything to say here.

here it is the law to pick up after your dog, people carry the bags, but half of them don't use them. One guy let's his dog crap right in front of our house, and even if you tell to pick it up he won't

I remember when people walked their dogs and when the dog wanted to do its business, they would lead it to under a tree, or away from the sidewalk to some soft spot. So I cannot understand people putting dog poop in a bag, and taking it home. Maybe they should have dog fire hydrants around with a hole so the dogs can go there, and someone can just buying the poop instead of taking it home. Why I would be embarrassed if someone asked me "what is in that bag?" I think it is a make work and I think if you have to pick up that poop, and put it in a bag, and take it home, why bother owning a dog.
Put places in the dog park where the dog owners can take their dog and do their business. All you need is a soft place with lots of dirt and leaves, and a deep hole.

There is this lady that lives on the corner of our street and she lets her dog run around. Its a meduim size dog. Alot of times when we are walking out of the house her dog is in our yard and she will hurry up and call him to go. Well the other day my husband was walking in our yard to take the trash out and he stepped in poop and brought it all over in our house b/c he didn't realize it was on his shoes. Well today I pulled up and her dog is taking a poop in our yard and the woman was just standing in her yard shaking a rug outside and when she seen me pull up she came running to get her dog. I told her that her dog pooped in our yard. She said she would get it after she finishes getting the dog. Why is she letting the dog run around pooping in other peoples yard? Keep that dog poop in your own yard. I have 2 small kids and they are in exploring stage and I can't take them out in my own yard afraid they will pick up this poop. I didn't check if she did pick it up yet or not but I told my husband if she didn't I should and go put it on her steps with a note saying you left this in my yard.

Here it is so bad, that you better watch out when you go outside your own house! I could not believe my kids stepped in the doggie doo, since we do not have a dog! Yet there it was, from someone walking their dog, and leaving their droppings whereever it felt like it! Rudeness is everywhere!

Dog owners who do not want to pick their dog's poo should be fined. In some countries, it is the law to pick their dog's poo.
