Do you buy your kids easter baskets?or do you make them up yourself?I make my kids myself. The ones sold at the stores dont have anything much in them and they want to charge you a fortune for them.I put stuff in them that they can use and will enjoy having. What kind of things do you put in your kids baskets?or what type do you find yourself buying?

I bought an Easter basket last year (to use this year)...I got it a week after Easter so it was only $2. It's huge and is filled with cute gardening/sandbox stuff...shovel, rake, bucket, hat...I took out the candy and will put in some fruit snacks and a little toy or 2.

My kids are grown up but I still give them an easter present. I took jars that I emptied and put new labels on them...easter ones of course and layered them with candy. I have recycled and then they can throw them away but the jar had a couple of uses before it gets pitched. And they don't feel guilty about throwing them!

I was going to buy one but making one myself sounds like fun. I like to make crafts I just never have time. I am not sure what we will do for Stephanie. We will probably have an egg hunt. I will use the plastic eggs and fill them with coins, gummy candy, etc. but as far as the basket I am not sure. She is almost 2 and I don't like her eating alot of cnady and sugar.

When I was growing up, we had Easter baskets, and we usually had lots of candy in them.
For my son's first Easter last year, I bought an aluminum pail instead of a basket, and I filled it myself, instead of buying one already filled. I put in a couple of toys, a book, a little bit of candy, and some eggs, real ones decorated and plastic ones.
This year, he won't be getting much candy, and he's old enough to have the eggs, and to do the egg hunt. Besides a couple of small toys and books, I may put something fun in like sunglasses or a hat.
I much prefer making up the basket (or pail) myself because I can personalize it and put in whatever I want.

I make my kids baskets. I try to personalize the baskets. I put lots of goodies like candy, lip gloss, nail polishes, toys etc. The baskets in the store have maybe one good item and the rest is filled with a bunch of paper to make it look full! My 12 year old still loves getting her Easter basket. This year I am thinking of giving her a purse filled with goodies..

I agree that the stores charge you way too much for their pre-filled baskets.
I make my kids' up every year. I usually fill plastic eggs with jellybeans, throw in a few marshmallow peeps, 1 big chocolate bunny (solid) and a bunch of mini chocolate bunnies, mini chocolate eggs or malted eggs.
I used to put in marshmallow eggs but I always ended up eating them - evidently my kids didn't like them. My husband and I always eat the odd # peeps and the leftover chocolates. (after I divide some between bags for the grandkids - yes I'm a 32 y/o grandma).
It's funny the kids haven't noticed that the Easter bunny gives them the same candy that we give their nieces and nephew. (My stepdaughter is only a cpl years younger than me, so her kids are around the same ages as my kids. In fact if you put them in order we have a kid for every age from 4 to 12! So my kids have nieces and a nephew almost their age.)

Each our kids has their own special basket. I put all sorts of things in their baskets. Last year they each got a new movie. Then little games and stuff. I try to do more stuff they can use instead of candy.
