How do you add a GIF image to your avataar???

I see that many people have avatars that animate. I have some GIF images as well that i would like to put up as my avtaar however when i upload them i just get a still image and it doesn't animate. can anyone please help me?

Goodnight moon answered it. The GIFs have to be 60x60.
To change or make an avatar you have to either use photoshop and edit the frames layer by layer ensuring they are 60x60, or you can go to this website to resize it easily http://www.gifworks.com/
