Week after week I see a new fangled diet. All claiming to be genuine, and not a fad diet. Whether it be pills, shakes or a piece of exercise equipment, have you noticed the small print down the bottom that usually says something like this:
*to be used in conjuction with a well balanced diet and regular exercise
Well duh! If you eat a well balanced diet and get regular exercise, you're going to lose weight no matter if you're eating pills or shakes or whatnot!
The weight loss industry is a multi million (if not billion) dollar industry and people don't realise that all you need to do is stop eating crap and get off yer butt and go for a run every day!
I am aware that some people find it harder to lose weight than others because of health problems/injuries or whatever but for the most part-people are looking for a quick and easy 'cheat' for losing weight. It's not gonna happen!

Yes, I agree with all of this. The weight loss industry is huge. I want to loose weight, & some methods in the past have worked & some haven't.
I would have to say that most of the herbal products, or supplements or drinks are a waste of time.
From what I have experienced, simply eating smaller serves, low carb & low fat, plus exercising will help most people to loose weight.
I haven't tried too many of the fads. I did try zenical a few years back, & that did work slowly, but it is very expensive.
I have recently been told that I probably have Syndrome X or Metabolic Disorder.

According to Forbes we spent $46 BILLION in the dieting industry last year. So in answer to your question yes, they think we are stupid. Hello once again for emphasis $46 BILLION. We may or may not be stupid. We are looking for the quick fix. And yo-yo diets are Americas bad habit. I have been guilty of this myself. Then I got my treadmill and got a little wiser. MOVE MY BUTT is my current montra.

I think that the sad thing is that millions of people are spending billions of dollars on "the next big thing" Its really sad. The only real way to loose weight is to eat healthy and move your body. I am overweight and you want to know why???? Cause I dont eat healthy and hate to move my body LOL. I am not out there spending hundreds of dollars on putting chemicals in my body. I just dont understand people some times. I need to loose probably 20 pounds and it is not a pill that is going to do it for me. i have to do it by myself.

I can tell you that I got very large at one time in my life, the more I tried. Every diet I went on I never lost weight.
I went through a huge change in my life, ate normally but cut down on my intake and changed my foods. To date I have lost over 250 pds and kept it off. I know it is diet and intake and exersize.
Not shakes, pills, or just talking about it.
Now if only people would understand that.

beginning to think that i am stupid.
everytime something like that comes out (complete with glowing testimonals) i feel the slight urge to try it.
In moments of weakness, have bought lots of fad diet rubbish
Result: Reputation amongst friends and family for wasting money on diet industry that will never live down
sigh.

I think we have all been ripped off at some stage by the promises from these companies.pills, patches, special diets, protein diets, hayes diet. I have tried them all and nothing has worked unless good old cutting down which cost me nothing. If you want to lose weight you got to get hungry. Not starving , just a little hungry until your body adjusts. Three mealsa with less fat than usual and cut out the trash. Easy to say , just not so easy to do.

most people are willing to spend money to buy something called hope.
even though it goes against their logic, they'll still choose to believe... that is why there are stll this kind of products around that promises quick weight loss..
only when they see the side effects will they regret.
well, thats all part of human nature.

Yes I noticed it too even in commercials on tv. For example "one glass a day and a thousand steps will help you lose weight". I mean, duh! who will not lose weight if you're having a thousand steps everyday. Lolz. That really made me laugh when i saw that commercial on tv. Aren't they thinking? Are they even thiking that we also have brains?

Talking about diet, actually, we don't have to waste our money UNLESS for fish oil which contain 1000 gm per capsule and the EDA value is 330 mg and EPA is 220 mg.
What I've done, I avoid taking too much carbohydrate and oily foods. This is to avoid from my blood from having ROTS(Reactive Oxidative Toxic Species) which really damage my red blood cells.
I erudite a lot about dietary program after I had my HLB Blood Test(HLB - Heighte, Laggard & Bradford). And saw with my naked eyes the formation and pattern of my damages red blood cells.
From that HLB Blood Test, you will know what or which nutrients that your blood cells need. No point for you having those dietary supplements, in fact your blood doesn't need it or in excessive of it.
You must know what kind of food that actually need by your blood. Especially when one's age reached 35. Very important, merely to protect from angina, infarction, high blood pressure, demensia, sugar level and all the related chronic disease.
This is my experience talking and not tongue talking. I've done it.

I am sorry to tell you this but you are wrong. There is a diet out there that works. It is great for people who love to eat.
They did a cholesterol test on some people. They ate 11 pounds of fruits and vegetables every day for a week. Yes 11 pounds every day. LOL It is really a lot. A huge fruit basket full.
After these people ate 11 pounds of fruits and veggies every day they LOST 10 pounds. There was a lot of other benefits but the topic of this discussion is weight.
But what you are saying is true. They all say get off your azz and work out & our pills will give you the "mental" strength. LOL I don't think the weight loss stuff is really approved to make you lose weight. IF it is FDA it is only approved not to kill you and not for some miracle cure.
So eat 11 pounds of fruits and veggies every day or get out there and work out.

Kudos to you for saying it out loud! I tried all kinds of things, but all I lost was money... now I'm watching what I eat, USING my exercise bike, fasting once in a while... I've lost over 24 lbs and have lowered my cholesterol by 30 points in 4 months! Most people want to see results in a few days... its our impatience that messes us up. For everyone...just do the right things, and weigh yourself when you start to feel a difference in how your clothes feel... bet you get a pleasant surprise!

Yeah I try not to think of doing it a more natural way and a more healthy way as a diet at all. I prefer to think of eating healthy and doing some exercise as a way of life and something that must be done in order to maintain the kind of lifestyle you want for yourself. That does not mean to say it is not easy for many but the important thing is that we try at least I think to some degree, otherwise we are just punishing ourselves in the end when we get to a state that we don't really want to be in. It is a matter of taking responsibilities for our own lives and actions really. I think we can do it if we just put our minds to it and commit to it like we would with someone we love but this kind of love is for our selves.
