My flat tyre saga... why do they do this?

I am really annoyed with tyre companies at the moment. I got a flat tyre and didn't realise until somebody told me that it was flat. I got out of my car and looked and sure enough I had a flat tyre. That's ok, these things happen. When I took my tyre in to be fixed though, I was told that it couldn't be fixed and I would have to buy a new one for $189. Wow! that was a bit of a difference from a $20 puncture repair. Well I rang my old boss who owns a tyre shop in a different town, and he tells me that tyres are now built so that when you have a flat tyre it doesn't affect the way your car drives. So you can drive around with a flat tyre and not know it and this is what ruins your tyre causing you to have to buy a new one. The screw that caused my flat tyre shaved off the rubber inside my tyre that makes the tyre seal to the wheel so my tyre would not reseal even if I tried to put it back on. I know I must be rambling a bit here but my point is that the tyre companies are building tyres in such a way that we don't realise we have a flat tyre, so by the time we find out we can't just get a simple puncture repair we have to buy a new tyre. No wonder they make so much money. So this is a warning to all to check your tyres before you get into your car, just in case.

Im sorry but I dont think your friend is telling you the truth. I have had a puncture before and have tried to drive to a tyre dealer and could tell it was flat. as soon as you hit a divet/pothole/small stone you feel the vilent shudder
