Here I found the most expensive fruit is cherry. Perhaps all of them are imported and they can not last for a long time. So its price is quite expensive. It's about USD9.00 for 500g cherries.

Hello youless!:-) That is really expensive there! I think 500g of cherries doesn’t cost more than (equivalent of ) $4 here. But, we are lucky, there are couple of people in our lab who have their own cherry gardens and they use to bring basketful of cherries!:-) I think here the most expensive fruits are Mangoes which sometimes cost $3 per piece, or water melon that could costs around $5 per piece! They cost less too depending upon the period and time. Lowest cost for a piece of mango that I have seen is $1.5 and that for watermelon $3!:-)

It is quite an expensive place, youless! But, my homeland is much better when it comes to fruit prices. Guess what, we can get as much as 30-60 watermelons in a single US Dollar. Similarly mangoes can be as cheap as US $0.3 per kg and the best could be get at US $0.7-1.0 per Kg (when I was living there). I just love my country!:-)

Oh, we live in quite different places. Here the mangoes and watermelons are not expensive. The good mangoes can be about USD1.50 for three mangoes. As to the watermelon, it is about USD0.20 per 500g. Since my husband enjoys watermelon, so we almost have it everyday in summer.

wow! that is really high. for some reason blueberries and raspberries are high here though they grow wild in many areas... they are sold by the pint and cost around $3 cherries are also high - I miss new york where we used to go cherry picking every year - for both sweet cherries for snacking and sour cherries for baking... cherries in the store are about $3 a pound we have a cherry tree in our yard but the birds usually get to them before we do.

At first I wanted to say you are lucky because you have a cherry tree in your yard. But the latter sentence stopped me to say so. Birds are very smart and they know how delicious cherries are:)

The most expensive fruits over here is durian and also the most delicious for me :) It's fruit with many protruding thorns. For the local, it's really delicious and aromatic. But for the foreigners who never see durians, it's untolerably smelly. The durian comes in many variation and price. It's a seasonal fruits and so it's not available through out the year.

I think we import durian, too. It's somewhat expensive as it's a very large fruit. But it is not as expensive as cherry yet. When I was little I didn't like it because of its smell. Now I enjoy it:) I think we have to buy the right season for durian as I ever bought it in winter and it was not delicious at all.

Cherries and blueberries are the most expensive around here. Only during their peak season does the price drop slightly... otherwise they're out of my price range.

Really? I would love to taste it, just curious. :). Its not common here, theres only 1 house that start to grow it in their garden. Rarity plus shipping cost from other island maybe the cause. Now durian has dropped into 1$ due the season, on some city it only cost 20 cent per fruit about 1kg. Love it! I wonder why western people didnt like it, I saw durian in Fearfactors, LOL. My pals told me they have different taste than we have here

Raspberries and Blueberries seem to be very high priced here compared to other parts of the country. Basically, anything that is out of season is expensive here, so I buy fruit that is in season. Luckily, I live in an area where they grow a variety of fruit all year around, so I'm never short on fruit.

Well, here, any fruits that is imported from Japan is expensive. About 7 to 8 times the difference between a fruit imported from Japan and one from the neighboring countries. Take for example, the melon. To get one from Japan, the price is S$15 from the supplier. Up to S$30 from the store. For a similar melon, say from Malaysia, the cost could well be around S$3-5, depending on the size. But you can taste the difference between the two. The one from Japan is crispier in texture compared to the ones you get from the local markets.

I think the most expensive fruits here would be those which are imported from Japan. A watermelon costs like $30 USD in some Japanese store and I really think that's unbelievable! I am not a fruit lover, and I certainly won't spend so much money on those "Japanese" fruit!

I think the most expensive fruit here in California is the cherimoya! I just found a website called cherimoya.com that says it is not being grown on a limited basis on Southern California! The most expensive fruits are imported or the ones that most people do not buy! I love the flavor and aroma of this fruit. I think it is 3.99 a pound, and I have only had it a few times. I received it through a mail-order company one time, when I was receiving the surprise-me box of organic fruits and vegetables! Starfruit is probably the next most expensive fruit here! Mangoes are usually only a dollar each, both the yellow ones and the green ones! I like to buy bananas and mangoes by the case whenever I can!

I do not usually buy foods that I am unfamiliar with either! It was a surprise package of fruit that cost less because the farm picked which fruits would be in the box that month! It reminds me of an artichoke on the outside, and the inside can seem to be too mushy, but it is so sweet and tasty! It tasted sort of like a cherry mixed with pineapple and pear! I think it may be related to the pawpaw fruit!

I don't know, probably palmigranite. That is usually very expensive, and other exotic fruits like it are also expensive. Sometimes strawberries, cherries, and watermelons can be pricy. Oranges and apples are usually the cheapest.

pomegranite fruit section - pomegranite seeds have a luscious pulp around them - their juice is highly prized for its healthy benefits.
we are very fond of pomegranites... they are not only tasty they are fun to eat too... we also very much like pomegranite juices and teas, but sadly they have become a popular health supplement and therefore their prices have skyrocketed... but the fruits we can get for about $1 which is not bad considering how much enjoyment we get out of them. we can pick at the seeds for a few days....

I think blueberries are the most expensive around here. I guess they're hard to get or something. They're always at high price and you only get a small portion in a tiny little plastic carton. They can't be THAT good. I mean, I'm not going to pay five or six dollars for a tiny plastic carton of blueberries that won't last a day. :|

I would have to go to the store to check. It is winter and everything is out of season here, so it costs more than I would like. Probably carambola, pineapple, and things that have to be imported from warmer places. Cherries get expensive here, as well, because they have such a short season and they are labor intensive.

Watermelons are expensive now. They usually go down in late July or August. Peaches are also pretty high. I haven't noticed too much of the other fruits.

Hi there... I think the mango and the rock melon are probably among the most expensive fruits, costing sometimes around $3.95 for half a rockmelon or $4-$5 for 1 whole fruit... This is how much they cost where I live anyway... Anybody think they were gold nuggets...

Hello dear youless. I cannot tell which is the most expensive fruit in my place, but there is one thing that I know, that is, all imported fruits are very expensive, much more expensive than the local ones or domestic ones. I prefer to get local fruits for its relatively cheap price. Thanks and good night with a sweet dream.

The price of the fruit will be fluctuate with the weather. I don't know if it is a normal phenomenon. For example, in my city when the strawberry first come on the market, the price will be surprising.and several days later with the weather changing upward, the price of the strawberry will be marked down. Another example, the price of the vegetable and the fruit will be too high to afford for ordinary people while spring festival comes. Around 1 week later, the price will be recovered as the usual. So as for me, the best solution is to buy them avioding the specific days.lolIt is also an effective way to save money.
