How many of you remember when you were growing up, getting into trouble? I do, and my discipline ranged from standing in the corner, kneeling in the corner, getting grounded, a spanking. I also remember that if I acted up in public, I would get a spanking in public.
I at the time, disliked my family sometimes for the discipline, but I know feel I am a better person for it. Knowing that if you mess up there is a punishment that goes along with it. The old statements if you don't knock it off, i will knock you head off your shoulders. We all knew what it meant. Say it now a days and you will have the cops visiting you. I know from experience, I was at a restraunt.
I personally feel that discipline is ok, if done with proper moderation. But with society as it is today, most parents are afraid to even punish their child for their wrong doing. A wrong doing needs to be punished at the time it happens and not hours later, since most forget what they did in the first place shortly after it happens. Even when you just change your tone with your child when you are in the store actually look around you to see how many people are looking your way to see what you are going to next.

When I was younger I was a little rascal (according to my mom) and was allways getting grounded/shouted at/beats..... Now ive grown up and have realised it was for my own good to try and keep me on the straight and narrow. I have kids myself now and when they are naughty they do sometimes deserve a smack on the bum but you have to be sooooo carefull these days just incase the social services get involved. The goverment in the uk blame most of the problems with hoodies and yobs on being brought up by a single parent and having no disipline. what are you meant to do, hit your kid and have them taken off you and put in foster care or let them run riot and commit crimes... you just cant win
