Keep The Change?

I do not remember if this program is exclusively through Bank Of America or not. I signed up for "Keep The Change" today. I know that everytime you use your ATM card, they take the change and put it in a savings account for you. I read about it a while ago and the teller told me briefly about it today.
Does anyone have this program who can explain to me exactly what I have gotten myself into this time?

I currently have 'Keep the Change' with my checking account at Bank of America. It's a pretty neat program.
What it does is it takes any check card transaction you make and round it up to the next whole dollar amount (i.e. if you make a purchase for $4.32, it will round it up to $5.00). Then it will take that difference ($0.68) and deposit it into your savings account. My wife and I like it, it helps our savings grow pretty quickly.
Also, a benefit of it is that BofA matches a percentage of your Keep the Change deposit per month. For the first three months, BofA matches your Keep the Change 100%, and from then it gives you 5% back per month. It pays out every year.
Good luck with it!

That sounds like a good thing, although I have gotten into a pretty good routine of putting all my small change away and then I count it up and put it in the bank, and it builds up pretty quickly once you get into a pattern of doing it. But it sounds like you have signed up for something that will benefit you in the long run.

I used to be like that, but now I am really strict with myself, I desperately want my garden doing and this thought just keeps me putting money in and leaving it in!

I have heard about that program too. I think its a good program. I don't have any Bank Of Americas out this way or I would be checking it out. I do know that you can use them for online banking, but I do like to go in the bank to do some of my business. Good luck, I hope you gets lots of money put in your savings, every little bit helps.

I am not a member of this program, either, but I've heard of it. I've even considered signing up for B of A because of this. It sounds like a great idea, but I don't know if I will really need it.

No, I'm not a part of that program but it does sound like a great program. I usually put my spare change in my daughters piggy back. While in the piggy bank its not earning interest, lol but with this program you earn interest. I think I need to open up an account, but theres no Bank Of America in my area.

Yes, it does seem silly to me as well when people say that there isn't a BofA in their area. Around here, it seems, there's one on every street corner. I do have the keep the change program and used my check card so much that my first year with the program BofA had to give me about $80 at the end of the year. Whenever I get gas, I always use my card at the pump and I intentionally pump to 1 cent extra. For example, if I'm getting $45 in gas, I'll pump $45.01 just so I will have .99 deposited into my savings. Great program! I recommend it to all of my friends and family.

Keep the change is not giving you any money my friend. It is rounding up the money you spend to the nearest dollar and taking the change and putting it to a savings account.
Lets say you spend $4.50 on your atm card. The bank takes out 5.00 out of your checking account and deposits $0.50 cents in to your savings account.
What you have to do it keep track of you spending and round it up to the nearest dollar so you do not over spend.
Good luck girlfriend.

I think it's more of a hassle when it comes to keeping my accounts straight than it is worth.
when you use your debit card, they will round up to the nearest dollar and transfer that change into your savings account.
Let's say you use your card to buy something for 3.70. They would transfer .30 from your checking to your savings. sometimes they run promotions and pay extra interest based on the overall amounts transferred using this program.
It's all to encourage you to use your debit card for purchases instead of a credit card.
