I have stopped using Facebook

I have stopped using Facebook for the time being. When I put this information into the site it said I could have a break from it and return if I like in the future. I have an old school friend on Facebook that won't take no for an answer. He wanted to meet up but now I have moved we live far from each other. He was getting annoyed that I didn't want to meet up and he said something quite nasty. So I want a break from Facebook to forget about this nastiness. Have you ever wanted to leave an Internet site that you belong to like Facebook? Are you totally happy with using Facebook or does something about it annoy you like an old friend on it being nasty? Thanks.

i quit facebook for a while because the highschoolish drama was starting to become more than i wanted to deal with. Sometimes its good to get off the computer and chat with some of your local friends face to face.

I like facebook pretty good. There have been a couple of times when people that I do not want to interact with much has requested my friendship. I have, after a lot of thought, added them. Luckily they have left me alone. If they were to behave like your old school friend I would delete them as a friend and block them from seeing my profile or contacting me. have you tried to do that? Sorry to hear about this experience :-(

It is great that these people have left you alone. I am familiar with My Lot but I am not a specialist with Face Book. Perhaps I will come back to Facebook when my old friend has stopped being nasty then delete him from the friends list. Is it possible to block him from seeing my profile? If so I would like to try doing that. Thanks for your reply Teison.

Yes you may block him from seeing anything about you, and from contacting you in any way. Just open the "privacy" page - you find it on the top of the facebook page. second "button" from the right. The block feature is at the bottom of the privacy page.

just an added thought-in the privacy settings, you can put it so that you limit what people can see when they look at your profile, or even just search for you. i have mine set so that if someone searches for me, they can only see my name, send me a message, poke me, or add me as a friend. they can't see my profile, or who my friends are (for their protection and privacy). and just because you add someone as a friend, doesn't mean they can see you full profile-add them to your limited profile list. hope this helps too!

Hey Maxi, Isn't there a way on facebook that you can block users that you don't want contact with? I haven't looked but I would think that they would have something like that. If they didn't I would definately give it a break if there was someone on there annoying me. I have a person on facebook that I know through internet marketing who sends messages with roses and teddy bears and it is like he is wanting to be more than friends but I am stuck because I don't want my internet marketing to suffer if I outright reject him. I have on my profile that I am in a relationship (which I am) but that doesn't seemt to matter to some people. I had a similar problem in tagged with men contacting me to be more than friends and then looked at my profile and realised that it didn't have that I was in a relationship so I changed it and don't have that problem there anymore.

I don't know about blocking entirely (though I am sure something to block users must exist) but you could always try setting your profile as friends only and then removing the person off your list. I did this awhile ago and trimmed down my friends list a bit. It has helped to keep my profile drama free, and now I only here from people that I know I want to talk to.

I cancelled my account on Tagged because everytime I'll log on it, it always reminds me of my ex bf. Anyway he cancelled his account first before I did. Other reason is I got so many invitation from other users, which is during those time was not cool for me. Just healing a wounded heart, receiving invitation or messages from other guy users really irritates me. Aside from Tagged...I'm using Friendster for I think 4 years, all of my real friends, previous classmate, colleagues were on my list so I stick on it. Besides I don't have reason to cancel it as of now I'm happy with Friendster.

And why be on facebook chatting when you can be in mylot and chat and get paid for it. It only makes sense that you spend more time here instead of facebook and make more money. I haven't had any bad experiences in facebook or myspace or in mylot. When someone in mylot keeps bugging me I just delete them from my friends list and the problem is solved. They then leave me alone since they don't get notification in their emails when I start a discusssion.

I actually like facebook I can keep in contact with friends and family and put pictures of the kids on it but it is safe because only my friends can see them. I tried some of the others but they were complicated and time consuming, If someone is being a pain on there then you could report them or block them.

I am glad that you enjoy Facebook. I found it a bit confusing and my friend knew that I had been on line when I wrote to another friend and not him. If I do go back to Facebook I will report the nasty words that my old friend has sent to me. Blocking him is another good idea, thanks.

I had a friend who recommended me to Facebook, so I set up an account, to be honest I didn't bother with it afterwards, I did get a few women soliciting me on there, which I wasn't keen of, but I haven't truly given it much more thought to be honest. I much prefer Mylot, Yuwie and Myviewin as social sites for friendship.

I don't use facebook. But I do have a friendster account and myspace. I started liking myspace because they're the first one who uses html and css codes. And then friendster did the same thing too. And then after the popularity of myspace, a lot of networking sites popped-up. Like, multiply which is the first one who did a networking site but more focus on albums that involved ofcourse pictures, kudos for them, youtubes which is all about videos, blogs a different one too and then facebook..There are still a lot of networking sites out there which are not that popular that is why I don't remember them now and abandoned them.

I joined facebook a while ago through a invitation from a cousin but I hardly go on it. There was also a discussion posted not so long ago about them using our pictures we upload so I decided to remove all my photos and change my avatar LOL I think I might just close the account as I belong to a few others that take up most of my time.

I joined up for facebook, but to tell you the truth I couldnt figure out how to use it! I have no friends really and the one friend that I do have doesnt have a computer! So although I am on it I never use it. But thats pretty bad for you being mithered like that, can you not report it or anything? I mean you should be able to go on things like that and not be mithered by anyone.

Honestly I dont like facebook in general. I wish to just delete my account but there is 3 people on there that I talk to and is the only way to contact them. That is the only reason why I keep it.

yeah i think as now it is the internet era people can easily to to some site and stay there for finding interest there but 'easy come, easy go', as everything comes so easy it is also easy for people to quit. when get annoied for something there are find more interesting place to go, etc. 'cause it is easy so you do not think it is too much as something that you can't leave. naybe it is one of the points.

I have never had an experience on facebook like you did (and I am sorry this happened to you) but I have left certain sites because of being attacked, definitely. It's a horrible feeling.

That is not cool. So is this some guy from your past that wants to be with you? This is very funny. I always thought that this stuff.. was not cool. I mean what is thinking trying to get you.. when you said NO. Also him being nasty is not going to help him. I would also take a break from facebook. I have never used facebook before.. I don't see what is so great about it. I will check it out sometime though.

I have facebook as well but since I found this paid site similar to facebook I rarely go there now. I had been a member of another site called friendster..I rarely go there now as well because somebody made an account there using my pictures and my profile. I have reported it to the admins of friendster but they didn't do anything about it.It is just so upsetting to have someone imitate you like that. What happened to you is quite annoying as well.People sometimes don't have anything to do with their life that they try to ruin it for others.

I have left Facebook myself recently because someone was friends with my daughter who I really didn't want having any information about me at all een that I was one of her friends so I closed my account to protect her really. Have spoken to her and she now also has ignored this person for a while. It can be a dangerous place. Now you have taken a break I hope that upon your return he has backed off. Ellie :D

i still check facebook everyday-but only really use it to communicate with friends and family. i've deleted almost all of the applications and ignore new requests for them. i've blocked all the people that i don't want to be able to contact me, so i guess it's ok.
