Ok I'm at work today, and my kitchen aid ( she is in high school) tells me in science class that she is learning about gravity. She said her teacher said woman get their period because of gravity. It has been a long time since I've been in school and I don't ever remember learning this. Has anyone else learned this in science class? And what the heak does this have to do with science. Wouldn't you learn this in health class? Anbody have any thoughts on this?

I was never taught that. My period was taught in science, it was part of the human body course. But I have never heard of having your period because of gravity. Did this teacher even go to school to be a teacher? Even being a woman don't you think you would know how and why you have a period.?

I don't know what she was thinking when she told the class this, you would really think she would know how she got her period, gee if she thinks this way, I guess our babies come from the cabbage patch.

lol. Maybe she doesn't know how to explain it properly to the children that's why she made this thing up. I can't believe she doesn't know why she gets her period. Number 1, because she's a teacher, they should know these things pretty well. Number 2, because she's a woman. When you own a gadget, you try to know as much as you can about it. What more a part of your body that you had since forever, and that's gonna occur every month? I really think she's shy explaining these things to the kids that's why she chose to make this lie, so that there'll be no more questions asked.

I never heard or learned that in my science class, what I remember is that women have their monthly period because of hormones. But gravity may have some contribution as to the flow of the blood outside of the body.

Of course gravity will fall down or flow, but not because of the moon cycle lol. We are woman and that's the bottom line. As you said hormones is what makes our bodies tick.

I never heard of that one either. This should be a health class subject.

I agree with you, what an odd thing to bring up in science class.

And they wonder why our kids are falling behind - with teachers like that!

I agree with you, my other kitchen aide, as they are both high school students, say the teachers really don't care about what they are teaching.

Nope, I have never heard of that. I'm quite good in my science subjects wayback, but I can't recall anything in connection with gravity to a woman's period. I hope the teacher is just joking or just trying to be funny to catch her student's attention.

Obviosly the lady is nuts. There are some people who there whole goal in life is to turn people away from God and this sounds like one of those people. That is the stupidist thing I have ever heard.

I hope you don't mind irishmist but I'm laughing hysterically at this...and yikes think that high school science teacher needs his/her credentials checked...Gravity?? To explain why women get their periods??...it's a wonder that the teacher isn't also telling the students that babies are born in cabbage patches...LOL

Your Kitchen maid should avoid science class. Its jiggling her mind, and clouding her senses. Menstruation is tied to ovulation or the ripening of the egg. Perhaps I'm crazy too, but I know Gravity has Nothing to do with it. ( How would the female astronauts manage in zero gravity their trips to the Space station?)

Well she and I know that, but someone has to break the news to her teacher... though it could be a shock to her teacher lol.

Okay LOL at the getting of the period because of gravity deal- I remember nothing of the sort. The only thing I can barely relate to that is he may have been talking about the moon cycles how it is much like a women's with the 28 days and all...???? Who knows- I'll have to look into this and get back to ya ;)

Oh that is too funny! So now I can tell my husband that gravity is to blame for my PMS. Hey! It's scientifically proven. Seriously though, perhaps your kitchen aid misunderstood or misheard the Science Teacher. If not, I'd be concerned about what else that teacher was "teaching". One thing that I have heard is that the full moon causes gravity pull and that more women have their period around that time. I have no idea if that's true or not. Just a curious idea.

I had asked her again and she did not misunderstand. Lol to funny. We had a good laugh again going over what her teacher said in class.

That's funny! Even science teacher will not tell you that its because of gravity that women get their monthly periods. If that is so, then why is it monthly when gravity is constant? Had a laugh there! So much hassle to women if that will be so. As far as I learned from school women get their monthly period due to hormonal changes in one's body. http://www.health.qld.gov.au/istaysafe/content/girlsOnly/myPeriodIsLate.html

I was never taught anything like this at all. I know we get our period so we can produce eggs each month. Each period washes out the old egg and brings in a new one etc. I dont see how this has to do with gravity. If that were the case wouldnt men bleed to then from gravity? Honestly it just doesnt make sense to me at all.

Ha ha , I don't even want to think about what gravity could do to men. But there is no way gravity could make this happen to woman, as it is all in our own system, and gravity cannot keep track of all of us.

I was never taught anything like that at all. I think this teacher is making things up. If anything you are right that it would be in health class, but that is no where near the reason that women get their period, though I suppose it could be an aide in making it flow downward instead of upward or something.
