Would you be willing to SHAVE OFF all your hair for a CAUSE?

I remember watching The Big Brother-Celebrity edition a few years back. One actress was asked by big brother to shave off all her hair in exchange for a hundred grand to be given to her father. The actress had a long hair that reached past her waistline. There was a footage showed about the living condition of her father. It was not a nice picture.
She readily accepted the challenge. What struck me odd was the behavior of the actress. She kept laughing and showing a comical face while the hairdresser was cutting and shaving her hair. Some may think that she was deluded. Others was thinking she was just trying to be brave and masking her fear. The media was concluding the actress was doing it for the sake of regaining her status as a celebrity. Whatever her reason, the deed was done.
Assuming a family member, a loved one or a friend are in a desperate financial troubles and you don't have the money resources, Would you convince yourself that bald is cool, sexy and beautiful, so why not take the offer? Would you rather withhold the offer as a last resort and try to look for other solution? Or do you think you will die first before anyone will shave off all your hair? Do share your thoughts=)

I would take the offer. Hair will grow back. I also have long hair. I can understand that while the hair is being cut, a flood of emotions might occur. Laughing could be a displaced emotion to hide other emotions like sadness or loss.

Well considering that I shave all my hair off every week, I don't think shaving my hair would be a problem. Growing my hair is the problem. It just seems wierd after all these years with no hair.

Hair grows back, and if you have hair like mine is grows far too quickly! I have a hairy chest and have shaved it in the past and it's a nightmare, believe me, if someone wanted money I would gladly have my hair shaved off for charity or to help a close friend or relative, providing it wasn't wax! I don't mind being shaved, but it's the thought of wax that brings tears to my eyes. Wolfie with no fur coat???? OMG....

Lol, a hairless wolfie wouldn't look so bad...ha, ha.
There's also an actor on the above mentioned reality show who had all his body hair waxed off so he can meet his family. He was screaming and tears coming down from his cheeks. Poor man. I was deeply touched when he finally meet his family again. =)

I don't know if it is fair for me to comment, but I will anyway. I used to have long, curly hair, but due to sickness, most has fallen out. I grew what hair I had out very long, then cut it off and gave it to Locks for Love. Since then, I keep it cut short to my head, since there is so little. So it would be easy for me to say now, yes I would. But if I had all my hair back, how can I say? For family or friends, I KNOW I would. For that much money, yes I would. But just for a stranger? I hope I would, but I cannot be sure since I can't imagine that scenario anymore. Good question!

Thanks for the tip Charms. I don't know if it would help. I wear a wig because half of my head is bare. The back has some hair and thus I was able to grow some out to donate, but the top and part of the sides, are almost completely scalp.

Hi Ambie,
You are most definitely welcome to say your piece. It is always refreshing to see you. You had taken the step to donate a portion of your lock to the Locks for Love, IT IS already something.
You might like to take Biotin, a Vtamin B supplement, to thicken your hair. It does a marvelous job for my mane.

It really would depend on the cause - for an ill family member in need I would do it but you can be sure I'd be wearing a lot of hats until it grew back. I know it's just vanity but I just can't imagine me 'going bald' and am sure I wouldn't be taking it lightly. I may laugh and joke to try to put on a front but underneath I would be kringing.

If it were for my grandchildren, children, parents, sisters I think I could but anyone else I would have think really really hard about it. Like you though I know I couldn't look in a mirror until it grew back - I can't even imagine 'touching' my head.
When my youngest was 4 or 5 he got ahold of the hair clippers 'big brother' had been using and decided to cut his own hair - he had patches of bald spots. The only way to fix it was to shave his whole head - I cried every time I looked at him until he had hair again. Hum now I wonder why I did that as I keep trying to get him to cut or let me cut his hair now.

it would be hard for me to do, but I would do it if it was to benefit my father or son, or myself or other family members, I am not sure If I would go as far as a charity, I would have to think about that one.
I am getting older and hair is not as important as when I was young but it is still important to a woman as you know.

if it was for my mom i wouldn't even think twice and i really don't think it woudl bother me either not know how much it would of helped. if someone asked me to do it for that kind of money i would. my hair don't grow good and i have never got it long enough to do the locks for love but its just hair and i would get it back. i can't say i would do it for anyone but if i seen that someone really needed it and thought they woudl use it wise then i would do it.
my mom passed of cancer and she lost some hair but not all and it really wasn't a big deal to her. they make hats and scarfs that cover your head and i have always wondered if it would grow back better if i shaved it all off. not to sure my hubby would like it but for a price i would do it in a heart beat.

Geez, I am a manly guy with lotsa hair.
Why would I want to shave off my hair? F3
Oh, you are talking about hair on my bed. Right now, I have no interest to be bald but it is no biggie really.
You do know that all army boys have all their hair shaved when they got conscripted barbarically?

I would in a heartbeat. As much as I like my long hair(it is two inches from reaching my waist) I would do it. Two years ago, my hubby cut off a good chunk of my hair(my hair reached my waist and he cut it up to my chin). I donated it to locks of love. That was the only reason that I cut it. My hubby and I don't have a lot of money, so I figured this was a way of donating something to a good cause. Plus it's only hair, it'll grow back. I mean in two years my hair has grown from reaching my chin to almost reaching my waist.

I would do it for a good cause, at the end of the day it is hair and it will grow back within time and if you were worried about what people would say to you after having done I am sure that when you told them why you done it they would shake your hand.
Lets face it people in the world take the mick no matter what you do, so why not shave you hair and give them something to really talk about

its just hair, it grows back.
ive been growing my hair for like 2 years now, and its down to my nipples, and everyone always asks me when im going to cut it, which is annoying cause i dont think there is a single person who grew out their hair with the intention to cut it on a certain date.
anyway, if it would help someone, then yes i would do it.
p.s. when i do cut my hair ill donate it to locks for love or whatever that cancer one is called.

If I could genuinely help someone by doing it, I would shave my head.My hair grows fast, and it is always more attractive after a good cut. I think that people who are self conscious laugh and tease around so that they're more comforagle.

I would have my head shaved to help somebody else. My hair grows fast, so I would only need a hat for a short time. The reason for the hat is my concern about a sunburned head, as my weather temperature is going up.

Absolutely. I have shaved my hair back in college for no reason. So I should be able to do it for a worthy cause. Of course being a guy, it's easy for me.
For a woman it might be a different story. But in the example that you gave, doing it for one's father, that's definitely worth it.
Anyway hair grows back so it would be a temporary suffering.

If i encounter such things as the actress did, my answer is yes. You know, it is just hair. Hair?Friendship?Parents?Which is more important?I think it is obvious.
Moreover, bald is cool, right? And i can have a hat if i am not used to bald appearance.
